He didn't at all follow the rules, he blew the whistle Immediately. It was way too soon, he has to skate over to get a better vantage point or at least Attempt to get himself in a better spot.. I don't even see how buffalo fans let alone Nuetral fans can say that he flyers didn't get jobbed.

did you listen to the game on the radio? the second goal was fully over the line when the whistle blew, and play had not stopped at all.

No one for Philly to blame but themselves. Every time you guys lose it isn't a conspiracy.
Of course it didn't

He pushed the goalie... it wasn't much but how can you say it didn't effect his ability to make a save there. Unless now pushing the goalie is a good hockey play

Also I saw how the ref blew that whistle early. Miller had his stick and glove over the puck and the ref thought he had it covered. Not a good call by the ref but I saw why he made the call

Yes I agree the first call was complete ********, it was goalie interference but that **** happens all the time without a call being made. The second goal that was disallowed was legit and happens all the time, the ref couldn't see the puck and thought Miller had covered it up and blew the whistle because it was getting dangerous.

Philly is not the center of the universe. Nobody is out to get you.
This as well.

Bad calls went every way. Ott's diving penalty was BS, and Philly got away with too many men on the ice once. Also Hartnell could've been called for hitting from behind more than once.
Deal with it.

Sure didn't sound like it was blown immediately to me when I listened to it multiple times.

You let in five goals. The calls went both ways. It's not the ref's fault.

The last one, the ref lost sight of the puck. Simple.

The goalie interference was just bad.

Even as a Sabres' fan I have to admit that the refs were pretty dumb on those two disallowed goals but still, as a Sabres' fan Ill take the W.

No I watched it, when they showed the overhead view when the play was dead the puck was sitting on the line. It was hard to tell if it was over or not, then about 3 seconds later, it was pushed into the back of the net. If the whistle didn't go it would have definitely been a goal, but at the time of the whistle it was sitting right on the line.

We had two obvious goals taken away, and one goal we let in was an empty net. I am not even discussing penalties.

Okay we're back.

Keep this to discussion about the game/refereeing. Keep fanbase attacks out of here.

The interference call was botched but the whistle at the end was justified. From the ref's perspective it would have just looked like a big pile up in the crease, it's not like he could magically see through Miller's body and see that the puck was loose.

Every team gets the shaft now and then, suck it up.

Yep, but the whistle had no incident on whether the puck would have got in or not. I understand the call too, but I seriously think the NHL should have a policy about this. It should be reviewed, and if the whistle has no impact on the play, then it should be a good goal.

Well if the refs were not complete garbage it would be a 4-4 game going into OT right about now...

I missed the first period. Refs missed calls for both teams.

I hate the intent to blow the whistle rule.

I think more of the problem is the consistency factor- like how in some games, a mild bump of the goaltender won't get called and in other games, it will. The "early whistle" was a bad break for the Flyers. I understand why the ref called it. You win some. You lose some. I still think the Sabres played slightly better (esp. in the first and third) but I can understand the disappointment on behalf of the Flyers and their fans.

Anyways, it feels good that we're having these convos again.

Can we reserve this thread for people who actually watched the game? Thanks.
