Usually it's pretty good. Yesterday he was kinda sluggish, but im not sure if it was because of the rust or if it was due to the surgery he did last summer. We should have a better idea in the next couple of games.

Cleary+2013 3rd for Tallinder? I'll email Holland, you guys can email Lou.

As for Cleary's skating, it should be better then last year as he's had a while to rest. He may never get back to his 25-25 pace, but he should still be good for 15-20 goals a year, while playing well defensively.

I'd rather trade Volch over Tally if given the choice

So who would you like to offer? It does not have to be a top-six.

I will laugh for a week straight if Detroit tries to pick up Cody Franson to solve their defensive issues. He's, like, the precise, exact opposite of their needs on D.

No go on Nick Shultz. The Oil need him more than your available parts.

We have too many bottom sixers as of now. I can see only Cleary helping you guys but he's getting up there in age and tear. Looked bad yesterday, too early to tell if that's really his form. Maybe Drew Miller too, good pker, good for 10+ goals per full season. Skating isn't strength but he can hold his own there.

Both are UFAs after this season.

Sammy has NTC, Bert probably won't be traded and doubt you want him either.

Obviously any of the D is out of option and you have more good D prospects than the rest of the Eastern conf.

Eaves, Mursak, Emmerton don't have enough value.

Abdelkader is signed for 3 more years at 1.7. Can center 4th line, play wing on the third. *May* have some hidden potential left. Or at least the Wings management seems to think so but pretty much no one on our board does lol.

Maybe Tatar+? Has one more year after this on his ELC. Played solid last year at WCs. Winger, smallish (5'10 or 11) but good speed, hands and offensive ability. Works hard and has improved D last year or two so isn't liability at all. General opinion on our board is that he's NHL ready. I'd hate to see him go but the ****ing management doesn't seem to give him a chance so would rather trade him instead than have him jump to KHL than play 6th year in AHL or whatever.

Could play on third line, imo. Shot at top6, realistic potential is maybe 50-55 point player.

The Leafs are carrying 8 D right now and Gardiner is set to return soon so they will most definitely be making one of them available.

One of :

Komisarek
Fraser
Holzer

Are probably going to be available for probably a reasonable price.

You might want to watch Franson under Carlyle.. He knows how to use his stick when he doesn't have the puck now.

He saved two good chances from happening last night.

Wow. I highly doubt Volchenkov is as good as he once was. There is no way Detroit trades Franzen for Volchenkov.

Daley isn't. Dallas can't afford to trade one of our few competent defensemen (And arguably our only one capable of playing top pairing minutes in his own end).

Robidas sure.

You could look at Tom Hickey, whos with the NYI right now. Turned into a Scuderi type defenceman.
Scuderi wont get traded, but he is a FA at the end of the year.
I wouldnt trade a first rounder this year, because who knows where Detroit will pick, especially in such a deep draft.
If Kenny wont offer sheet PK, trading for his rights could be a good idea.
Best trades would be with Vancouver and New Jersey. Just dont offer a pick.

Detroit needs defensive blueliners and blueline mobility. Franson improving at getting his stick into passing and shooting lanes does not qualify him for either designation.

Sadly, the term for what Franson is* can't be used because most folks hear it and immediately think "hideously g-dawful defensively." Which, despite his limitations, is unfair to him.

*: "Quality bottom pairing power-play specialist." Or any variant thereof. Franson nicely illustrates the difference between 1) being defensively capable, but having limits and thus needing to be sheltered, versus 2) being completely defensively incompetent, like most folks assume when they see that designation.

Tampa will give you MAB. We don't need anything in return.
