What is the asking price for Murray from Montreal. What is San Jose looking for what are their needs?
I think Montreal's backend is lacking one more physical guy who can hit and clear the net. Once Subban comes back we would be able to have 3 offensive guys and could have 3 physical guys back there if we could get Murray.
So what is the asking price? He is a UFA at seasons end, don't know if it makes a difference if San Jose is going to possibly be re-signing or not.
Not sure if Montreal is interested, but Volchenkov might be available once the Devils 8D situation plays itself out. The key word is might.
Just out of curiosity, what would the Montreal fans potentially pay for Volchenkov, if he becomes avaliable? Devils are only interested in forwards and forward prospects, preferably an NHL ready or close-to player.

Well most likely... These pieces are probably in play.
Yannick Weber
Danny Kristo
Aaron Palushaj
Those would probably be the lead candidates. Montreal are most likely keeping their picks.
I wouldn't bother. This is a 48 games season in which a large portion of the fans don't mind tanking. Sacrificing pieces for this season would be a complete waste.
Would be better to get rid of Kaberle and bring in Tinordi
They already said Tinordi will need another year more likely, he needs to adjust to the speed. But he is a physical force and will be the guy for us in the future.

How about Louis Leblanc?
, I honestly just don't see him thriving in Montreal, I understand the whole situation in Hamilton right now but still think he could be expendable
I would want a good-elite bottom 6 forward on a decent contract, preferably a good skater. Otherwise not much point in trading him, since Montreal doesn't want to trade picks.
This isn't a key year for the Habs. Yes, a bruising defensive defender would be a good fit to our current personnel. But at the end of the day, it's still a building team that will probably be hardpressed to make the playoffs. So unless that default expectation for performance changes in the weeks to come, I don't think trading for a veteran rental player is reasonable, regardless of how well that player might fit the roster on paper.

Right now we have injuries to Burns, Braun and Demers. Also we've bolstered our bottom lines, so we really have no glaring holes on this roster right now.
All that means is we'll be holding onto Murray, in case of any more injuries on D. Most likely Wilson will try to re-sign him in the offseason.
don't need another left handed D
we need a right handed Murray/Volchenkov type
Why??
We have Subban, Weber, Diaz who shoot right, I know Diaz and Weber aren't that physical, but Subban is, so wether it be a right handed or left handed defenceman who's physical I just don't see how that matters..

Weber isn't even praticing as a D man he is not part of the answer especially with Diaz in the mix.
We have Morkov, Gorges, Emelin, Boullion, Kaberle who are suited for the left side. Our 2 best prospects Tinordi and Beaulieu also play the left side. WIth PK in the line-up we have 1 true right and Diaz is a platoon D. So unless Kaberle is the one going the other way we have no need for another lefty. Thats why

Gorges can play the other side quite well, and if Volchenkov or Murray came in, Bouillon probably would sit out
Makes no sense to make a move for Murray if the team is going to be a lottery team. Just wait till the roster is expanded and bring up Tinordi and let him work through the jitters and kinks.
