I do remember Khaira saying that he would play where ever the Oilers wanted him to though. A few years in the NCAA would do him fine though.

Thought this was pretty cool, Sami Kapanen and his son Kasperi are playing together for Kalpa in the SM Liiga.

Dillon Simpson and Jujhar Khaira each with an assist.
Bigos with a pair of assists.
Kellen Jones with a goal.
No points for Laleggia in a tie (a tie, weird...) but he did get 5min for checking from behind, that goon.

A goal and and assists on Friday, and two assits last night for Zharkov. 5 points in two games since getting back from the Worlds.

Looks like he is playing with Alan Quine who Belleville just added from Peterborough.

Nice to see hopefully he can keep it going for the rest of the season.

Greetings fellow Oilers fans!

In case you all missed it over on the prospects board, Kyle Bigos set a new Merrimack and Hockey East record for career penalty minutes last week with 415. The old Merrimack record was 400 and the old Hockey East record was 406.

While it may be looked upon as a dubious honor by some, the physicality he brings is part of what the Oilers love about Bigos. But what also seems to be overlooked about Bigos, particularly this season and the last half of last season, is how much more of a rounded player he's become. He's moving the puck better, his D zone positioning has gotten better and probably most importantly, he's been able to strike a balance between his physical style and playing responsibly. The latter has been particularly evident this year.

Awesome. Thanks for the good news.

I'm really looking forward to him in camp next year. Definitely could surprise.

Hey, stopping by to ask a quick question. Obviously I figure Oilers fans would know best, so what are your thoughts on Paajarvi? I'm looking at his stats and it seems his first season he did really well and then got injured the next season. How is he looking now if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks!

If you're asking for a pool, I wouldn't take him. With the Oilers depth at wing it would take several injuries for him to play in a scoring role. At best, you're looking at a temporary look-in at third-line RW with Ryan Smyth and Shawn Horcoff, and he's behind Hartikainen - who loses the job himself to Ryan Jones when he returns in a month or so.

More likely he plays top-line minutes with Lander in OKC for most of this year.

As for how he looks, I'm not all that impressed with him. He has so much speed but can't seem to break out of that European mold and start using it to drive the net. He's talking about becoming a more complete player, and I'm starting to see third-line in his future and not top-six.

I agree I see PRV as a 3rd line player, can't complain about that you need good players with speed that will score a bit on the 3rd line also. I think he will be a good 3rd liner with Lander and Pitlick.

I also see PRV as a third liner that can step up in the line up for spot duty in the near future which is nice for a guy that is his age.

Zharkov is playing on Sportsnet right now. Just generated the first goal for Belleville on a patient play where he spun off the defender entering the zone then fed the puck into the slot which resulted in a tic tac toe goal in sequence after his pass. On a side note, Subban looks awful.

Love that kid!!! Big skilled and can and will hit. Maybe a Viktor Kozlov. Good depth player with first unit PP jam who can play anywhere in the "middle six". Also similar to Ales Kotalik.

Which one? I've never had a chance to see Jordan play.

Zharkov sure impressed me at the WJC, but why so few points?

The Bulls are basically a less skilled Phoenix Coyotes.

I think they got a big spark with the addition of Alan Quine and Tyler Graovac though. Quine has 8 points in his 3 games with the Bulls and Graovac has 9.

No points for Zharkov tonight, but in the last two games(the first two with the above guys), he had 5 points.

Rieder with a goal last night. Looks like he will be playing some center going forward.

Khaira with an assist.

As for Zharkov, as dnicks says the Bulls had been a very defensive team. They also play on the big ice.

Looks like I missed a wild one last night. Kitchener outshot Barrie 61-40 but lost 6-3.

Rieder got one of the Kitchener goals. (He has scored in 3 straight). Gibson was in net for the Rangers. Mathias Niederberg for Barrie.

Laleggia has the only PIoneer goal in a 5-1 loss. Khaira with a goose egg last night.

Kyle Bigos seems to be on fire. Had 1G + 1A last night, and 8 points in his last 8 games since coming back.

Dillon Simpson not having a bad stretch either, with 9 points in his last 11 games.

Nice to see some good things out of these long shot guys.

If Bigos turn pro we could be icing an inexperienced yet solid D lineup in OKC next season:

Klefbom\Musil\Gernat and Bigos as AHL rooks with Marincin already there

Rieder with a goal and an assit tonight including the tying goal and an assit on the OT winner. The Rangers have had 108 shots in the last two games.

He has now scored in 4 straight games and in 5 of 7 since cming back from the WJHC.

Gernat just picked up his first point of the year (third game back), a PP helper on a Lazar goal.
