Not only does our defense need a revamp but so does the coaching staff.

Goligoski continues to show that he lacks the vision and hockey sense needed to properly play the point on the PP.

You'd think they'd be able to breakout of their zone more than once every 5 tries.

For a year I tried to convince myself that the Goligoski trade wasn't one of the worst moves that this franchise ever made. But the guy is just terrible.

And yet the damage is perpetually made worse by treating him and Robidas like top D.

For my money Daley-Benn has been the only pairing that has played at even an acceptable level tonight. Without Daley this team would essentially not have a single consistent NHL level defenseman.

We don't have enough defensemen who can make a proper pass coming out of their own zone.

Will be happy with a point the way this thing has gone.

We're all about to go -1 for the first goal call.

Larsen-Dillon has been the best from where I sit. Obviously, I would disagree with your last statement as well.

Reminds me of the games against Phoenix the last couple of years. Nothing is going right for the Stars and Minnesota is doing a good job blocking shots and shutting down the transition game of the Stars.

The boys just have to dig deep and get one in there. This game is right there for the taking.

Tonight it's Benn playing better and Dillon looking like the rookie.

That's what happens when you go with multiple rookies on the backend. You're going to get inconsistency.

The problem is we insist on putting two guys together with similar weaknesses (not being able to handle larger players). It just makes things worse when that player (Robidas) has clearly lost more than a step and has always been a player that takes a beating. If you put Daley with Robidas it would be just as bad. Goligoski needs to be put with a large defenseman that can actually cover his own assignments.

Strange, Dillon has looked good to me and Benn is the one who is making hurried outlet passes to nobody in particular.

I know everyone likes to rag on Robidas and Morrow, and while sometimes deserved, I am at least happy to see them play physical. While we don't need outlandish chirping all the time like last year, I really feel like this team is soft and lacking size. On the positives though, Nihlstorp has looked solid.

Jordie f'd up last night, but he can freaking pass quite well (for the most part) and it looks like he has a cannon of a slapper.

I mean, it was obvious from the first couple of games after he was acquired that Goligoski and Robidas were a terrible pairing. But here we are multiple years later and the coaches still haven't figured it out.

Are you sitting somewhere where Dillon is obscured from view constantly?

Absolutely ridiculous that they haven't figured it out yet.

The good news here is that Jaromir Jagr is a Dallas Star and the deficit sits at 1 pitiful goal.

They have a mancrush on Robidas and insist that he is a top pairing D. Goligoski-Larsen looked much better when it was used last year. Why? Because Larsen is capable of handling his own assignments and despite his size he is reasonably physical.

What has he specifically done wrong? I see a guy who's playing physical, pushing the tempo, and generally cleaning up other people's messes in his own zone. I guess it should go without saying that he hasn't been perfect but c'mon, give me something to go on here.
