Honestly I think the only untouchable d man on the current roster should be Larsson.
Fayne and Greene have a lesser value on the trading market than for the Devils. Trading one of these 2 guys wouldn't end well for NJD.

Come on, we could have Kovy-Zajac-Franzen ride out on a line together until they fall apart or retire. Whatever comes first.

Larsson won't be traded, that one is obvious. Same can be said for our new captain, Salvador.
Fayne and Greene are arguably the two best d-men and would take a damn good offer to get.
I doubt Zidlicky would waive his ntc( if he still has it)or Lou deals him, we need that pmd.
That leaves Volchenkov an Tallinder. With Volchenkov having a ntc it would be harder, I think he'd waive to a team like Ottawa if asked.

Tallinder just makes the most sense.

The idea of Greening, Franzen, MacArthur/Kulemin, D'Agostini or maybe a Wild winger(Setoguchi available?) are all appealing. Love the Franzen one.
I like them all except for the Franzen one . cause of the term of the cap hit. The trade would have to be a D for a Forward tho. NO PICKS given up be NJ, but i would take picks for a Dman.

I would consider it. I like Macarthur a solid 2nd 3rd line forward who is decent defensively. Somewhat underrated with the amount of attention Grabovski gets compared to him.

I would honestly rather move Volchenkov, not that he isn't playing well but because of the length of his contract relative to the number of young D-men that we have ready to step up over the next 2-3 years, but with his NTC he could be difficult. Would Tallinder work in his stead?

Volchenkov is too old, and too much of a repeat of Mike Komisarek.

The Habs have Bourque available, obviously, and maybe Gionta, considering it's New Jersey and all...

Gio would be harder to get, though.

well, what would you give?

We need a dman. I'd hope greening would be enough to get volchenkov back, reuinite him with phillips on our third pairing. Since we're not actually GM's we dont have to hide our cards though... would you offer a better dman?

I think a Volchenkov back to Ottawa trade makes sense. I can definitely see Volchenkov waiving his NTC for Ottawa and he fits a need there.

I don't know enough about Greening. You think he can produce more? become a 20/20 guy? Decent two way game?

MacArthur for 2nd in 2013 at the deadline. He goes for this.

Leafs don't need anything else; we don't need a 2nd rate d-man, 2nd rate forward, 2nd rate goalie, or 2nd rate prospect.

We have all of the above. Either overpay or give us a 2nd. That is what will get him.

This is a funny thread... Franzen, MacArthur, D'Agostini... all trades every Devils fan would make.

Aside from Henrique getting healthy I think the thing the Devils need the most is a good third line left winger.

Henrique-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Tedenby-Elias-Zubrus
MacArthur-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Henrique-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Franzen-Elias-Zubrus
Tedenby-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter Gionta-Bernier

Zidlicky-Greene
Salvador-Fayne
Tallinder-Volchenkov

^^^
Larsson filling in for whoever gets traded

I'm fine with all that.

He's a 15/20 guy, but if we throw in Regin, who has been plagued by shoulder injuries but is a good centre, enough to land Volchenkov? From Ottawa's stand point, would give us room to bring in Daugavins and Stone.

I don't think he's proven enough. One season with 13 goals... only played 10 games last year. He's also a UFA. So while it's a low risk, it would pretty much just make Volchenkov a throw-away.

I would counter with Volchenkov and a 2nd for Greening and a 5th.

Salvador was just named captain, he's not being traded.

Zidlicky is 36, an impending UFA, and is a valuable puck mover. Little chance of being traded.

Greene, I'd argue, is our best defenseman. I think he's criminally underrated and would be a 2/3 guy on most all teams. I wouldn't move him.

Larsson, yeah no, not gonna happen.

Fayne is a very unique player, 25 year old, 6'3", workhorse, two-way, all situation defensemen aren't easy to find. I would trade him for the right price, the right price being a Grabner/Voracek/Setoguchi kind of established young forward.

So honestly, it's pretty much Tallinder or Volchenkov. Volch has a NTC, though most would tell you Tallinder is the better player anyway.

Tallinder is cheaper but older.

All of the pros and cons cancel each other out really. I think the value is going to be an added second round pick we can package with one of the defensemen for a decent forward.

If it's Fayne that's traded, the pick would be a 4th.

Problem is -- that's not a deal the Leafs are in a position to even start considering now. They have no idea where they're going to be come deadline time, and how important MacArthur is going to be to a potential playoff run.

A draft pick provides no motivation to make a trade in the near future.

also if we're being realistic, you have to consider the way Lou Lamoriello makes trades. If he's going to give you a decent draft pick, he's going to take a lesser pick back.

Want D'Agostini. Grit overload on this line.....

Clarkson-Zubrus-D'Agostini

That line would throw some bodies around
