The Joe Flacco appreciation thread

He seems to take a lot of crap around here, but he has been great in these playoffs. He is a very good QB.

\I've been calling Ravens games here for over a decade and I say that Flacco was always the QB for this team

Team had Kyle Boller, Troy Smith and Elvis Grbac as starters at some point before Flacco

Just maligned at that position until Flacco came

Would rather have him there than a washed up vet or a young bust

But Kyle Boller could throw the ball from his knees. Remember that.

To be fair

He declared himself elite and had a non-elite year ,, So he was bound to get flak

With that said he has been very good this year in playoffs

He's an excellent road playoff QB. No doubt about it.

Still needs to do it for a full regular season before he is declared elite.

Guess who is the most winningest QB on the road? (I believe)

Joe Flacco gets a ton of crap, but the guys a warrior. And in the second consecutive year in the playoffs, has outdueled Tom Brady. And so far, has just beaten Manning and Brady. In their houses.

Caldwell was the best thing to happen to Flacco imo. Looks really good under him.

Balanced offense really helped Flacco here, Ray Rice as an option makes a lot of things easier.

I think Flacco is a decent QB who can be useful but if the Ravens build their offense around him, they're going to be outside the playoffs fairly soon IMO.

Flacco was always the raise-level-of-play guy. If the Ravens win the Super Bowl, he will be in the Pantheon. And then there will no longer be a discussion.

Which begs the question: Where's the Jim Caldwell Appreciation Thread?

This is, w/o a shadow of doubt, the best stretch of offense we've seen from the Ravens ever.

Wrong. His agent proclaimed him top-5. Then that led to everyone asking stupid questions. And Joe Flacco says what he thinks, he's not a shmoozer. So when they asked him, he said:

Quote:
What do you expect me to say? I would assume everybody thinks they are a top-five quarterback. I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'd be very successful at my job if I didn't feel that way."
Oh, God, what an arrogant *****.

People have been ******** on Flacco for no reason. The media blew the whole thing out of proportion to fill air time.

If you don't touch Flacco, sure, I guess he is a good QB.

Every time he is rattled he folds. Patriots gave him way too much time in the pocket. When Spikes hit him it was too late.

You don't necessarily have to hit him hard, just put it in his mind that he could get sacked and he'll choke. Partially the reason he hasn't made the Super Bowl until now.

Flacco is on the skill level as a Cutler except he has a better O-Line. They both are deadly from the pocket but if you put any pressure on them they suck.

I feel like you've watched Flacco play maybe twice. Ok, three times.

That, or you're a Steelers fan.

Yeah, that's why he keeps winning in Pittsburgh. Not a team that gets after the QB at all.

Or why he keeps winning on the road in the playoffs.

... or why he keeps winning. Period.

I appreciate Joe Flacco....'s performance on December 14th, 2007

Flacco has had some above average seasons, but so did Matt Cassel once upon a time. Flacco has won some road playoff games over Brady and Manning in the same year, but so did Mark Sanchez. He's still not that great. Let's not overrate them because of a solid defense.

Like all Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, I'm expecting his hype to increase substantially should he manage to win. Watch folks that would've otherwise not even considered him a top 10 QB suddenly talking about him like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread should the Ravens win.

But, no surprise, as the NFL is a what have you done for me lately league. I'm sure even Jay Cutler would get hyped up if we won Super Bowl. stop laughing

He took a lot of crap because he wasn't putting it all together like he is now. If he wins the SB, it goes away, likely for good.

Wait, you're comparing flacco to Matt cassel? I wouldn't put him on the level of the top guys, but c'mon, Matt Cassel and Mark Sanchez? LOL. As for the bolded part, Joe's bailed out the defense a bunch of times, he's more than a game manager type.

The Ravens defense was anything but solid this season. They're solid now because they're mostly healthy.

Also, I was at that ASU-UD game and have it on DVD. If you're implying that Flacco's performance lost the game, then lol. 334 yards passing, 1 TD, no INT. Delaware was a walking field hospital going into that game after winning on the road in Iowa and Illinois against the No. 1 and No. 4 seeded teams, and Flacco had a ton to do with that. Not to mention ASU was a legitimately good football team winning their third straight national championship, easily a bowl team at the FBS level. Two defensive players Flacco was up against in that game are actually still in the NFL.

If you're just trying to score internet points for pointing out you watched him play in college, fine. But if you're trying to say something about how he played at Delaware and in those playoffs, you're way out in left field.

I was at the game too, and I remember how he played (not good enough). Our defense was pretty poor that year, but good on him for racking up a bunch of yards. He's still not that great. Not top 10.
