I'd expect him to do pretty well offensively in the NHL too, especially in Edmonton where they run and gun offensively. It suits his game. But a good deal of his offense seems to come from high risk plays and pinching, and I think he'd have to sacrifice some of his offense if he's ever going to be any good defensively.

I think he will eventually, but not convinced over his strength etc at the moment, he seemed to get outmuscled really easily, but could just be a small sample size.

I can't remember the scouting reports on his defensive play, but I'm not sure if he'll ever become anything then an all offensive player myself

well too bad the oilers won .. although on the + side, 1 of our division rivals lost and the coyotes look like they'll drop 1 to the blackhawks tonight as well.

He was only decent defensively in the AHL, if that tells you anything.

I'm curious to see how he does against a team that will actually play physically. Vancouver really didn't play him hard.

this. when the ducks play him they better crash and bang the crap out of him. and the entire oiler's team for that matter. they are skilled no doubt, but they lack that grit..

i hope st.louis also destroys them. they are a pretty big skilled team

Vancouver appeared to use up their entire yearly allotment of physical play in the first period of last night's game. I can't wait to see what happens to him when Clutterbuck rolls into town.

Doesn't bode well for Schultz's defensive play.

Do Edmonton play Boston this season?

Only in a cup finals scenario.

So....no.

Depends who you ask, TSN might say differently if their pre-season rankings are anything to go by

My only concern regarding Anaheim vs. Edmonton is their speed. Anaheim's blue line looked slow at times last night, and Edmonton has a lot of speed up front. That, and just avoiding penalties. Their PP is dangerous.

true. as long as souray/allen don't get exploited too hard it should be fine. fowler/sbisa have solid mobility and beach and lyd are no slouch either..

Weird, Yandle and Doan shook hands after that goal. Maybe they're trying to go O6 with their goal celebrations?

3 consecutive goals!

I don't think we play Edmonton for a while, so Fowler will be back by then.

This Blackhawks/Yotes game is like a NHL13 drop in game.

What happened to the "bore you to death with our defensive system" Coyotes?

That's a terrible call, Oduya skates into Doan.

Then Oduya smirks at Doan as he's getting led away

That's a pretty sketchy interference call on Doan. Not that I can stand Doan, but still......

Luongo playing and it goes to shootout = auto-loss
