Wouldn't mind MacArthur, but why would the Leafs move him for a draft pick or prospect? Is he taking a spot away from a youngster?

Would hope the Wings would send Cleary to you for just draft picks. Although he is more of a tweener now by reputation, he is regressing in a hurry in my opinion.

Gionta could probably be available at deadline, pending how Habs season goes

Matt Frattin. Not really a youngster, he's two years younger than MacArthur.

I don't think the Leafs would look to move MacArthur for a pick/prospect at this point. He was just named as one of the Leafs alternate captains and Nonis has already moved a couple bodies out. If the Leafs are out of the playoffs at the deadline they will have to decide whether to trade or resign MacArthur. Mark Fayne fills a hole and would likely get a deal done now.

Definitely wouldn't trade Mark Fayne for MacArthur.. even more so considering MacArthur is a UFA at season's end.

Since we traded for JVR, I think either Lupul or MacArthur's days were then numbered, until yesterday when Lupul signed long term.

Our top 9 wingers: Kessel, Lupul, JVR, Kulemin, Frattin, Komarov, Kadri(c/w).

We will take a 2013 2nd for him.

Honestly.... not really.

Frattin isn't in the lineup because he played his way out of it in camp. He should quite easily be able to displace a Komarov/Orr.

Fayne would probably be the guy that motivates us to trade MacArthur sooner. Otherwise, we'll make a decision near the deadline and auction him to the highest bidder.

Any interest in Tlusty from the canes? We need a defensive dman coming back big time.

If we threw in McBain would that help bump up to a next level guy?

I don't personally have interest in Gionta but I wouldn't be TOTALLY against it I guess.

Setoguchi+2nd for Volchenkov or Bouchard for Tallinder.

Gerbe is probably available. As much as I like him, it's hard to find him a spot.

How has Bouchard looked so far? Haven't been able to catch too many highlights yet.

Like the 1st option as well, but getting Volch to waive is an uncertainty unfortunately.

PMB had a goal Saturday and a couple assists this weekend. Has looked very good since returning.

Just realized salary is an issue with Volchenkov. You want a 3rd to keep 1 or 2M of salary?

I'd do either of these. Honestly, I would do both at the same time.

Bouchard-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Elias-Henrique-Setoguchi
Zubrus-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Zidlicky-Salvador
Fayne-Greene
Larsson-Harrold

Devils have a pretty good cap situation moving forward. With every younger guy needing a new contract, another vet comes off the books. Especially if most of Volch's cap is going the other way. I think that'd be a reasonable trade.

You can give us the 3rd back from the Zidlicky trade

Eh, doing both forces us to rush Coyle and Zucker into the NHL, otherwise Clutterbuck is on the second line.

Problem is -- that's not a deal the Leafs are in a position to even start considering now. They have no idea where they're going to be come deadline time, and how important MacArthur is going to be to a potential playoff run.

A draft pick provides no motivation to make a trade in the near future.

that's the leafs, right?

I agree. MacArthur wasn't the reason he didn't make the team. Frattin would be on the team in a lowered role if he played better during camp.

That's what it would take to bring in MacArthur now. At the deadline if the Leafs are out and the Devils are in a different swap would likely be discussed. Assuming the Leafs decide not to re-sign MacArthur I believe it would be a picks/prospects swap to the highest bidder.

If Minnesota fans are really okay with this, I would be fine with either one of these deals. Would you trade Setoguchi straight up for Tallinder?

Tallinder isn't that much of an upgrade over Scandella, I'd rather do the Volch trade. Although if he doesn't waive maybe Clutterbuck+ for Tallinder?

Am I missing something?

In 4 pages not once has Petr Sykora's name been mentioned.

He's the definition of a 2nd/3rd line tweener winger. He scored over 20 goals last year. He could be signed for under a million bucks. No asset needs to be given up to get him. And he's proven already that he fits into your system....

Why don't you just sign him?

Leafs fans were offering MacArthur before for Tallinder or Volchenkov. Fayne is better then both and on a much better contract. You're adding to get us to listen to moving Fayne.

yes

he started out hot but then slowed down rapidly, when playoffs came around he was too slow to keep up
