Has nothing to do with if he's a better back up than others out there.

Who in their right mind is going to send a 2nd round pick AND a defensive prospect to Dallas for him?

Yeah it's one or the other. He won't garner both.

Ooooookay

Goodnight HF.
What is wrong with that? Ryder probably won't re-sign. Jagr is 40. Morrow probably won't re-sign or want too much money. We are rebuilding. This is what rebuilding teams do.

Morrow's pretty invested in the community. With his kids, his house he custom built...can't see him wanting to leave. And can def see him taking a pay cut for maybe a final 3-4 years. No way his body makes it 5 years, so can only see him retiring here.

I would think he would want to go somewhere and win a cup.

Look at all the big named goalies that are failing throughout the league right now. That's all the evidence you need to take a chance on an up and coming, solid goalie.

Who the **** wants to take on Luongo? Especially at his salary! OH that's right... You're seeing it now. Nobody. What's Schneiders stock? Through the freaking roof.

That being said, he'll land us damn good value in a couple of seasons. Certainly not a 5th. That's truly laughable.

Goalies rarely get a good trade return, even the big name ones. There is no way a rental, unproven guy like Bachman lands anything special in a trade. No GM is going to give up much for a small AHL goalie who had a good week and a shutout on a nationally televised game.

Backups?

Schneider/Luongo (no idea which is which)
Bernier
Elliott (even with his inflated stats)
Harding
Khudobin (trust me on these two, seen them play countless times and both are better than Bachman)
Biron (arguable, hard to tell with the Rangers' system though)
Neuvirth
Giguere (he's better but not more valuable)
Vokoun

Only 9. Some of them arguable. Bachman is a top 10 back-up though.

5 worst starters?

Crawford
Mason/Bob
Dubnyk (guy is total garbage)
Clemmensen (sp?)
Reimer

^ Would take any of the 10 listed above over these 5.

Go look at the returns for goalies for the last few seasons, especially for guys with as short a track record as Bachman has. Second his short stint last year has small sample size written all over it in order to prove that he's a #1. A backup goalie who plays 20 games isn't going to net any team a 2nd round pick.

There's no real "harm" in holding onto Bachman but if Lehtonen/Nilstorp is your combo going forward letting the 3rd guy sit in the AHL taking time from Campbell isn't good asset management either.

Tell you what Cin we'll make an avatar bet. Early 3rd or better and I'll spot whatever avatar you want all off season. Mid 4th or below you do the same, assuming Bachman is even traded this season. Mid 3rd-Early 4th is a push. Does that sound fair? Because you sir have seriously over inflated expectations in regards to the 3rd best goalie on this club if not 4th if Campbell takes a step forward.

Tell that to our new owner and the front office.

Great idea though. Completely gut the team of our offense.

You know why? The GM's realize those are the keepers to keep.

Cute idea with the avatar bet, I'll stick with Falcao though.

I wasn't the one saying he would only getting a 5th, just fyi. That said, no one that wants to remain a GM is going to trade what you're thinking he's going to get.

And the only reason Luongo hasn't been traded to Toronto is because of Vancouver's high demand. They're not about to overpay (well at least not too much) for a good goalie. Bachman is not getting a 2nd and a prospect. And I don't even know why we're even talking about this. None of our goalies are going anywhere anytime soon.

His wanting to come back doesn't mean he should. Dallas absolutely should not offer him another contract. The failed leadership of the last four seasons rests at his feet, not to mention the decline in his ability on the ice. I don't know if Morrow would waive but if there's a firesale he needs to be one of the first asked to waive his NTC and be moved. Regardless he should not be on this team past this summer.

It's been two games. Teams aren't going to freak out and overpay for Bachman all because of two games.

Luongo might not even get a 2nd and a prospect and yet Bachman could.

Luongo is also one of the most overpaid chokers in the league. I wonder why he won't net a good return... Something about playoffs I think?

We have an abundance of young forwards in Texas that need to have their shot. Jagr will be 41 next season. Morrow will be 35. Ryder 33. They are worth more long term as picks/prospects.

Luongo has won more playoff games than Bachman will ever play in.

He's still a top 10 goalie in the league.
