That's too bad. I definitely think this team will need a physical presence, sans Benn, who will stick up and occasionally fight for his teammates. I know Morrow will occasionally, but he can only do so much, and besides that he seems to be getting pretty injury prone. I know people aren't fond of him anymore but if he went down, it definitely would be worse than people like to think.

His name is Vincour.

Yep. Chiasson will be Morrow's eventual replacement.

I think the golden boy treatment you speak of is a result of people watching games differently.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. I've obviously given up my high hopes for him but I still see a useful lower line player. He really shouldn't be anywhere near a faceoff dot though.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan on the game

“Back-to-back, we seemed a little lethargic to start the game. I think both teams were, but if you want to win on the road you’ve got to be prepared. Sometimes you can get the game in the first 10 minutes like they did when they got the goal on the four-on-three. But we need to be better prepared to come in here so we can catch a team. “
Feel like he says this every game we lose (and especially after these 2nd game of a B2B). It's the coaches job to prepare them.....so freakin prepare them.

Seconded. It's going to take some time for things to fall into place. Most teams are going to have stinkers like this at some point early on. We don't even have our best player on the ice yet.

Seems like logical reaction during a 48 game season where nearly 1/5 games are back to back.

Wondering if Gully's age is the reason he's so hesitant to go after his vets. Needs to realize he has to be the dominant voice in the locker room. I feel like he wouldn't have this problem if he wasn't always a head coach (I don't remember him ever being an assistant anywhere).

Hasn't been. Went straight from being a player into being a head coach.

Yep. Lot's of rust showing. I think it has been very evident in two of our key defenders, Daley and Goligoski, but it will come together soon. Benn makes a huge difference in this type of suffocating game with his ability to carry the puck, create space, go to the front of the net and win battles. We need him, that's the only thing I'm going to lose my **** over... if we don't see him inked in the coming week.

Physical forwards Chiasson, Fraser and Vincour all fit that bill to varying degrees.

To be fair neither Robidas or Wandell are solely to blame for tonight. None of Roy, Ryder, Fiddler, or Morrow covered themselves in glory.

Dillon and Larsen each had their issues as well but the upside with them is that hey with time they'll get better. I can't say the same about Robidas or Wandell.

This is a below average Western Conference team without Benn and an average one with him. Most of the kids are going to need all 48 games to take that next big step in their development and people probably need to keep that in mind this season.

Vincour's ok. But he's turning out to be a bit like Morrow. Physical, but ends up getting hurt somehow.

Dunno why, but for some reason I was never sold on Chiasson. Saw him play here in Houston twice though, and he just reminds me so much of Loui in how I barely noticed him and yet he racked up points and rarely made a mistake. I think we have a real gem on our hands in a less flashy Perry-lite player.

He's great in the dirty areas and in front of the net. Hence the "Morrow's replacement". Eakin and Smith leaving is a major bonus for him. He's smoking hot since they left. Even if its only been 2 games.

I agree, but hey, it's pretty common on these message boards.

I think Stars looked decent and they were 1-2 goals from having a great road game. After all they didn't let Wild to have an easy game.

But what i agree with everyone is that Wandell needs to be removed from 2nd line immedately. Without a real centerman who could distribute the puck Ryder is like a fish on a dry road. Try Eakin there.

Also, it is such a sad thing that Goligoski - Robidas is our number one D-pair. Gogo seems almost lazy at times and Robidas is Robidas - good at times and then horrible.
