When JT and MM are smothered and held off the scoreboard we have little chance of winning. Past that line our scoring ability is abysmal so the other teams throw all their checking at them. We tend to score off scrambles and broken plays anyway.

There is a good analysis on LHH about how our lack of a good break out play really hurts our offensive chances.

How much of a difference do you think Capuanos' absence made in the first game?
Well that first goal Sat night was because of a bad line change so I think that may not have happened with him in there.

Loving the Soundgarden Law.

From my recollection we've played Tampa well whether it's a win or a loss. JT will be fired up to go against his buddy Steven. 5-3 Isles win.

I'm heading to the game today. I bought tickets last night. If anyone is looking to go to the game, there was a decent amount of cheap seats left on stubhub and through the Isles website.

Great job Law, always looking forward to a laugh or two from these GDTs.

I think the Isles get the win here 2-1 (Okposo/Grabner, Malone)

ah yes.....someone else said (or maybe it was one of you) that he looks like PAP version 2.0. A no name player of a similar skills set, right wing and like PAP was on 2 teams before us. (I just looked that sh...stuff up)

Top line should get more room. JT and Moulson should connect.

Not sure why the 1oclock game, I feel like most people work today.

Regardless, I am going to be going with at least 3 other people. Hopefully Nassau isn't empty today. Would be real nice if we can manage a win since we don'tply again till Thursday.

Hope to see Hickey and Cizikas put in and Finley, Boulton out.

I'm hoping to get a look at Hickey and Strait today. I would also hope to see Cizikas in the lineup as well......... and along with enough Islander goals to win the game, I'd like to see Carkner drop the mitts for the first time as an Islander. Carkner is a beast!!

Haven't heard that Soundgarden track or seen that video in years - awesome call!

Here's hoping for a win tonight - I may actually be able to watch this one since it'll be 7pm here.

Let's go Islanders!!!

Finley is in the lineup again? Who needs to see the human pylon play again to see he isn't ready to skate against NHL forwards?

If I am Tampa, every time I see Finley on the ice I yank whichever wing is on and get Stamkos in there.

It's strictly to draw families with kids, who are off from school today. It's also Marvel Superhero day. Expect a large crowd. Of small people.

Well, the realist side of me says that there's little to no chance we are coming out with a W vs. an offense first opponent with this defense and pop gun offense.

The positive side of me says, hey, it's only been one game, let's see what happens.

Prediction?
Tampa 5
Isles 1

Prove me wrong.

@StapeNewsday

Nabokov in goal, same D, Cizikas/Boulton to be determined after warmups. Capuano says he plans on coaching today. #Isles
