I don't think it means anything. It's all just a freak show anyway. Being there or not is meaningless. This is fubar.

The game is on tsn now. I'm surprised, the arena looks close to 90 + percent full.

It's the home opener. They had a nice crowd the first day last season if I remember well.

They did have a nice crowd 17,132, not a sell-out, incidentaly they were playing Winnipeg and there were about 2500 Jets fans in attendance. The next two Coyotes home games saw crowds of 11K followed by 7K, the crowd for 2011-2012 home opener wasn't matched until Dec. 28 Every team in the NHL sells out their home opener, well just about everyone, some get a 90% sell out.

Judging by the cheering after every Hawks goal tonight I would say a good portion of those in attendance are NOT Coyotes fans.

Home opener typically sells out in Phoneix. Plus attendance improves after January when more snowbirds come to the area. I wouldn't be surprised if the average attendance for this season surpasses last season since the lower attendance months were remvoed from the sched.

Or, when jan 31st pass and people start to realize this team is doomed, maybe the attendance will be worst than ever.

10days...

It's the "calm" before the empty "storm".

Anything over 17,125 is a sellout.

Folks, let's get back to status/updates on Jamison's efforts. You can be pedantic about attendance in the megathread.

10 days now...we wait. I'm on the fence on what Jamison's absence means. I just think he is much different than someone like MH (I can only bring myself to type his intials) who was kind of a showman. Mr. Jamison appears to be laid back and private. Depending which side of this saga you're on determines if that is good or bad.

And I was at the game last night. I would say the crowd was 90% Coyotes. There were a lot less Chicago fans there than usual. In the past, there were groups of Hawks fans in the corners and some center ice. This game they were spread out and spotty throughout the arena. No real concentrations. I don't know why everyone has said it was loud when the Hawks scored because it wasn't that loud in the arena??? Who knows...

hmm, nothing on TSN, the Score, CBC, Yahoo sports, twitter...

How accurate is this source? I'd have figured if this was going to happen we'd be hearing from Dreger or MacKenzie.

I don't believe it means anything. In the absence of information, too many are trying to divine meaning from tea leaves....

Tick, tock.
Quote:
New Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers said he has his doubts about whether Jamison actually will be able to pull it off by Thursday.

“For the life of me, I can’t figure why, if everything is lined up, if he’s got the money in hand, why would he postpone this? That’s the only thing I haven’t been able to figure out,” Weiers said. “What would be the purpose of delaying it?”

The mayor said he asked Jamison that very question last week. Weiers said Jamison responded that he was optimistic about completing the sale but offered no details.

Neither Jamison nor league officials offered any explanations about the seemingly slow negotiations when asked by The Arizona Republic last week.

Jamison said, “We’re aware of what we have to do to get this closed. We’re working very hard to get there. So far, the anticipation is that we will get there. That’s kind of where we’re at, at the moment, and I probably wouldn’t take it much further than that.”

He declined further comment.

NHL spokesman Frank Brown stated in an e-mail that the sale process continues and that league officials remain hopeful of a positive resolution.

“Transactions follow their own timelines. I will not characterize specifics,” he said

Remain "hopeful" of a positive resolution. You consider how quickly the league closed on sales when an owner has a ton of money, and then you get this. There is only one answer.

This "hopeful" answer, he used it many times in the last months. What is there to hope for? You either have the money or you don't. There is no "hope".
