They won 4 stanley cups and near a 5th and 6th in 95 and 2009 so they wont feel too bad about going into some tanking years.
Not a Red Wings fan but I think you are under-estimating them. Because they are a team with $, their re-build can be a quick one. I think their biggest hindeance will be that Dats and Zett won't be traded to help the rebuild because of loyalty.

Pens offer any D prospect you want. A 1st. And rights to Malkin when he's 35.

Wow.. A lot of underrating going on here...
Datsyuk is a great player a should fetch a lot. Some of the offers here are as if he is washed up like Jagr.. The guy should have more value than Getzlaf.

To fans saying he should retire a Wing.. It is smart for the organization to get something great for him.. They can always sign him down the road again and retire him.

You would gut your team for an Old (albeit great) player?

Just spitballing some ideas out;

Datsyuk to Toronto for Kadri + Rielly/Gardiner + _______
Datsyuk to Florida for some of their prospects
Datsyuk to Rangers for Stephan + _______
Datsyuk to Winnipeg for some of their prospects
How on earth did you come to the conclusion that CLB is in serious win now mode?

A little off topic but why do Edmonton fans think Gagner and MPS have amazing trade value and can get you any star player? It's crazy!

Just for further knowledge, Edmonton fans: If you want a star player you will have to give up at least 1 of your big 4 so just stop with the Gagner/MPS/1st round pick BS, it is old!

He is still a great player, but he is 34. And based on his lockout/post lockout quotes seems like he could easily head to Russia in 1.5 years. Not to many GMs I think that would trade away 3-4 high end young pieces for that.

From a Wild prospective, I would give them Seto, a first and B level prospect with good upside(Haula, Graovac, Brussiers).

That was referring to the Kings. The part of Columbus in that metaphor is presently being played by Detroit.

No he won't, he'll finish his career in the KHL.
That said, he'll play his last NHL game wearing a Winged Wheel, that's for damn sure.

If the Hawks won another cup after this trade it wouldn't bother me at all to watch Stalberg and Teuvo devlop into studs for Detroit and stay there the rest of their careers.
I like it except Beach. for people who watch grand rapids, its pretty easy to see he would have some people who wouldn't like him But Tuevo is a big + between that and the fact I would like to see us crap shoot our way to Elias Lindholm. and I would be very pleased

i think the Habs would be a good trading partner here.

Plekanec + a prospect ( Beaulieu / whatever Det needs in their system )... i dunno if something else needs to be added...

anyway, i would hate to lose Pleks - but Datsyuk would be an upgrade even if he is 4 years older.

also, the Habs have Markov, Emelin and Galchenyuk to make the change in scenery easier.

I'd do Plekanec and Diaz for Datsyuk. Unless they'd prefer Beaulieu, who cannot help them now, whereas Diaz looks like he'll have a breakout year and can help now.
