With the number of potential starters and free-agent goaltenders that will float around the league over the next couple year, I wouldn't even consider trading Larsson, who could be our franchise defensemen for any one of them.

We could have picked up Bishop last year if we wanted, and with the amount of highly touted 20 goaltenders who bust, and with the value Sens fans have in Lehner as being potentially their first franchise goaltender (I am not arguing its unjustified), I wouldn't want to even try to pry him away.

you can keep Lehner, we'll keep our guy. thanks.
I said Lehner can be a starter now and he has massive potential.

As for Larsson being a #1 dman, I got him confused with the Gudbranson thread. My bad.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really like Larsson.... but comparing Larsson to the reigning Norris trophy winner, who blew away all D in scoring last year (AINEC) is like comparing to Ryan Malone to Malkin.

As a fan of neither team, the devils would never do this. Larrson will be a #1 d for a very long time. You could change goalies to making it Lehner in the deal and it's still not close. I don't understand why Lehner is not the starter already if he's played 10 games and is destined for stardom.

Lou is showcasing defensemen for other teams to bite at right now.

Larsson will be a full time starter pretty soon. People should be talking about Tallinder or Harrold's value.

Way to miss his point.

Because he is still on a two way contract and we have three goalies. We only have one healthy scratch so for right now we can keep him up practising with the team.

Not the way our team is built any more. Outside of last year's playoffs, Brodeur has been pretty mediocre for the last two seasons. He's still average when compared to other starting goalies but he doesn't steal games for us anymore. He has not been an elite goalie for some time now.

We're building around a core of big, mobile, two-way, puck possession skaters that fits DeBoer's forechecking system. As long as we have decent goaltending (say, a Niemi/Pavelec level guy) there won't be a huge drop off.

I think Lehner is a star in the making, but moving big assets for a top goalie when a decent will suffice is not smart for NJ. We're thin enough at tradeable assets already.

Come to think of it, he was never mentioned once during TSN's innumerable segments throughout the lockout. Did he even qualify for training camp or has his play deteriorated? Young, so plenty of tie but I'm curious after all the attention he was given a year ago.

He had not played for all of December. He had his wisdom teeth out, then caught strep throat and the flu. He just started skating again in the beginning of January. He is back now and has 2 goals and three points in 3 games.

They are taking their time with Zib. No need to rush him.

Ewww... weak comparison... I'm not sure if you really tried?

Ben Bishop is not 40 y/o
Mika Zibanejad is worth a lot more than Matteau, comon

And finally, Karlsson >>>>>> Larsson

At least for now.

Exageration to prove a point only does the opposite of what you're trying to do.

What?

Lehner + Zibanejad for Larsson is still not close?

wow.

I would be heavily infuriated at the Sens if they made a move like this. And I'm very high on Larsson (and Swedes in general)

PS : I see that you may just have an ignorance problem but Robin Lehner is just 21 y/o. The Sens have decided to not rush the young guy and let him develop in the AHL. Goalies are difficult to developp and rushing a young goalie is never a good thing.

The other thing is contracts : Anderson and Bishop have 1-ways while Lehner has a 2-way. Anderson is a very good #1 in this league so he has the job for now. No point in having Lehner as the #2 as he wouldn't play enough.

The point made is that Larsson is untouchable and that this isn't even a good offer for him. Thus, no, he missed his point.

No way. Severson is not going anywhere.

Besides, that would't solve our essential problem, which is we have too many NHL defensemen. We want to deal a D for a F.
