Its actually quite disgusting how consistent Neal became in one off-season, and how much Goose has sucked since that offseason as well. We definitely gave up on a young player too quickly.

I never wanted to give up on him. It seemed like everyone on here wanted him gone because of consistency, but he's a goal scorer. You can't just expect someone to get a goal every game. Players are obviously going to go a couple games without scoring, that's no reason to trade them, especially when said player is still hard on the forecheck and hits often.

This is a bunch of revisionist history that is getting really ****ing annoying. 99% of us on here who advocated trading Neal realized he was the best chance of getting a defenseman of the type we needed. It's not our fault Goligoski isn't that player. The problem isn't that we traded Neal it's that we traded him for the wrong goddamned defenseman. Goligoski is an entire level lower than we should have gotten in return for Neal. That is entirely on Nieuwendyk and something that he will ultimately have to answer for one way or another.

It's not revisionist for me. I never wanted to trade Neal. I think the only trade idea I was alright with was for Letang.

Agreed. Shero fleeced a relatively green (lol....) GM and is now reaping the benefits of a star winger being fed the puck by a superstar center.

Meanwhile, Goligoski hasn't seemed to progress an awful lot in Dallas, and I think everyone aside from maybe Joe and Gully has noticed this.

Goligoski will eventually level out. When Oleksiak takes his spot on the top line and Gogo is on the 2nd pairing where he belongs.
