The Cult of Joe Vitale (Orr vs. Vitale - better goal?)

In honor of Jiggy, let the Joe Vitale praises commence . . .

EDIT: I'm afraid to try, as I've always been afraid to try to capture something as divine as Vitale's game with mere mortal words.

Go on, try.

Dude whaaaat?

Since Vitale was the Pens best pick from '05, this is illogical.

I'd say Brandon Prust. But now he's overpaid and playing above his talent level in Montreal. I can't think of a better 4th line player.

He's a God of 4th liners. We should re-sign him for 10 years. Yep.. he's the one player that overrides the CBA.

Some say that he dances with a man named Harry and that he sleeps with a clenched fist. All we know is, he's called Joey V.

Vitale got an unwelcome reminder of his early health problems when he had a CAT scan a couple of years ago following a burst appendix.

"They saw that my right kidney was operating at about 10 percent and the left one is about double size, taking on twice the load, but it's working fine," Vitale said.

"They told me, 'You run a risk every time you get cross-checked there.' But I love hockey. I don't want to stop playing hockey. There's risk in anything."

It doesn't get anymore bad ass than that.

Having watched limited games last season I wasn't totally sure what all the hype was with Vitale, Granted his hit on Briere was just awesome. But the way he played yesterday against the rangers was just awesome, Kennedy might have finished his goal, but it was really Vitales, and he brings a presence that I love seeing on the 4th line. So here's to Joe Victory! Love him.

I still don't understand why Bylsma scratches him every once in a while. He's the perfect 4th line center. Good on draws, relentless forechecker, hustles, etc. He should be a fixture on that 4th line every game.

He's a guy you hope can stay healthy and be a longterm piece to our puzzle. Should never be scratched again.

how is he defensively? i havent paid close enough attention to him to really tell, honestly. seems fine to me though.

that's the only possible logical reason bylsma could have for not playing him.

He's a guy that gets it going every time he jumps over the boards. He doesn't care if he crushes the guy or just bumps him; he's going to get a piece of the guy. I love those type of players. His skating is pretty awesome to watch too.

Yep Vitale is the pefect 4th line energy guy. He brings it non stop every time he is on the ice. I don't think he should ever be scratched another game in the NHL, even for a more talented Dustin Jeffrey. I love Jeffrey, but his ideal role is higher on the depth chart and Vitale brings a critical piece that not every player can fill.

He's no Sutter, but his attention to detail is there. I think he's good defensively simply because he plays every shift as if it were his last. I see desperation in his game no matter what period it is. Not perfect but far from a problem. I'd say adequate.

I hear rumors that IF he stares directly in your eyes for 3 seconds, you turn into Stu Barnes.

If I could give you an Anti-Infraction to annihilate the next infraction you earn, I would.

Your vision for recognizing greatness continues. I see moderator powers in your future. Once I am bumped up to Galactic Mod (step above Global Mod), Joe will see it done.

These powers I would abuse.... So badly...

I can't be trusted with ban power around those who dare speak ill of Joe V. My justice would be swift and merciless.

The blasphemers need punished.
