I'm getting the chance to watch the game against the Jets and I think he's played very well so far.

He has looked better than I expected. Hopefully it continues.

Having another great game again.

Lead the Bruins in ice time in the first also.

He played 23:27 today only second to Chara. Too early for Norris consideration?

No way he gets sent down. He looked poised in a top 4 role.

I'm with you, Randy.

He's looked good. I'm optimistic but still reserved. Will he make boneheaded plays? Sure, of course - I do expect that - but will he do more good than bad? I certainly hope.

AJ, in the small sample size, is also better than my expectations. I was borderline panicked when we heard of McQuaid's injury - thinking our top4 would get overworked.

But, again, it's a small sample size so far, if we give these guys some time and they get the support they need, get put into positions to succeed, then we'll be okay.

Sent down from the first pairing to the second, or...?

In all seriousness it's really early, but he's looked absolutely fantastic. The coaches trust him, he had a little less than 24 minutes of ice time, and his on-ice play was terrific. He won a lot of one-on-one battles and most of our offensive chances came from a cross-ice pass or shot from him. Him and Chara mix very well. I thought he would be run out of town by now, but he's definitely here to stay. Playing with Chara or Seidenberg will inflate your stats and play, but it'll inflate your confidence, too. Kid looks great and he looks like he's having a lot of fun too.

It's still very early, and he's a rookie. He'll make a lot of mistakes in the coming 46 games, but I have a lot more confidence in him. I thought he was going to be a train-wreck.

I'm optimistic due to the support staff he has around him. He can learn from world class defensive defensemen like Chara and Seidenberg. He has a coach whose system is defense-first. There's strong leadership in the room to keep him on task. He now has the benefit of a professional fitness and diet program.

If he was on a young or bad team, like Edmonton or Columbus, I think the chances of him faltering, learning bad habits, or losing confidence would be so much higher.

I mean, there's no guarantees. The history of the league is riddled with people who have shown initial promise only for reality to catch up with them. But Dougie is in one of the best possible situations he could ever find himself in. Everything around him is in place to make him succeed. The rest is up to him.

I prefer Hamilton with Chara
Seids and Boychuk

Chara can look after Hamilton better IMO
Not saying Seids is a stiff and wont throw down but he's not as menacing as big Z

Chara - Hamilton was a great pairing. I think it allowed Dougie to be a bit more comfortable with his offensive game. The kid had a couple great chances almost right off the bat with his smart decision to join the rush. May or may not have anything to do with Chara but it made me take notice all the same.

Says a TON that Dougie had the 2nd most ice time. Claude even had him out there to finish off penalty kills. He's not bad at laying out people along the boards either which isn't totally surprising given how tall he is. But he's also only 19.. someday he's going to fill out that frame and be even stronger.

I didn't see the first game but, after watching the game against the Jets, I agree. He looked great paired up with Chara.

He's safe. They have already deemed Bourque as this team's problem. It is clear to many after all two games that Hamilton is guaranteed to be a star and that Bourque is a bum.

Bourque is our biggest problem? I think that's a compliment.

Leafs fans, I feel for you. He looked more confident today, his skill was on display. I have to say, when Jack said: "Hamilton...up the middle to Seguin," it felt real good to love black and gold I'll tell ya.

Once Tyler Seguin has a season better than Phil Kessel (and it's coming, whether it be this year or next) then they're really screwed. That seems to be the only argument of the zekes and RogerRoepers of the world who can't come to terms with the fact that trade was atrocious for the Leafs (in fairness most Leafs fans see it as a bad trade on the Leafs end). Basically they argue that since Phil Kessel has been the best player in the trade every year since the trade, the Leafs haven't lost the trade. Ignoring the fact Hamilton is still a teenager and Knight and Seguin just turned 21 (Kessel started playing games for the Leafs right before turning 22). Where have those years of Kessel gotten the Leafs? Not even outside the bottom ten of the league once. Now that Seguin is maturing into a star and Hamilton looks great it's only making Burke worse and worse. We can also thank the Islanders, Senators and Jets scouting/management staffs for some questionable drafting decisions for the Bruins to obtain Hamilton. Couturier and Hamilton were top six talents in that draft, I know it's really early but I've been saying that since the draft and so far I look very correct.
