If he was a better scorer, he'd be at atleast 3 goals already

Most of his goals last season were goals where he cleaned up in front of the net

he looks great. he's also very focused. ott made several runs at him yesterday and he never took the bait. it's clear they've asked him to focus on being a top-6 winger.

If it's "for fun":
Simmonds, Voracek + for John Carlson. Or Mike Green, then without a "+"

I feel like Simmonds is the type of guy you want to hold onto. Hard to get a guy with that mix of size/skill/physicality.

It's been said before, but I would say trading one of B. Schenn or Couturier is probably the best way for Philly to address their longterm needs on the blueline, while not making a huge dent on their longterm potential up front (since they'd still have Giroux+Simmonds+Read+(Schenn OR Couturier)+Voracek+Hartnell+etc)

Your alarm clock is going off- time to wake up from that dream.

EDIT to add: Voracek has a lot of value and won't be thrown into any deal.

Well, if you think Voracek + Simmonds = young 1D who can play in any situation, who is durable and is on the affordable long-term deal...

I believe the guy said "as part of a package". That does not mean "centerpiece".

Theyre retooling but theyre also contenders now. Adding a legit number 1 dman could make them a cup winner, trading for a guy like that to help with the youth would be smart

Leafs would absolutely LOVE Simmonds, but considering how good we are at the wing right now, I doubt we would move any assets for non-core needs, namely that #1 we have needed forever.

when you say you wont trade him for anything but, kind of insinuates that he is the centerpiece.

...or that he's valuable enough that the only circumstance in which he should go is in a major upgrade to the team, yet there is a recognition that he is not valuable enough to the rest of the League to accomplish this by himself (or with minor pieces added).

It's a polite way of saying "we don't want to trade him". You can't come out and say "he won't be traded" around here because then you'll get browbeaten by fools blathering about Wayne Gretzky.

Predicted total-failure-to-get-the-point response by somebody: "lol simmonds is nothing compared to gretzky"

Would love this, never gonna happen. Especially for that.

Wed have to give Coburn, Simmonds, +1st, and 2nd...But i doubt Pitt would want to do this anyway since a guy like Letang is not really replaceable.

This is a stupid argument because neither team would trade either. Especially so early into a season.

i don't think they would either, but how is my argument any more stupid than suggesting Liles for Simmonds in the first place?

Yeah and he's signed to a discount deal, plus I used him because someone in this thread mentioned the flyers needing offensive defenceman.

granted, i just don't think that with our young core, trading a piece of that young core for a 32 year old offensive defenseman is anything but counter-productive. i think the flyers would rather keep simmonds unless we're getting a defenseman around the same age with similar upside.
