Brandon Marshall ‏@BMarshall
“@leothelion89: @BMarshall you plan on working with @AJJeffery1 this offseason right?!?” Suppose to he won't return my text

Could be nothing, could be something. Not like Jeffery is a guy known for his work habit. I have no issue with Marshall calling him out, personally.

Jeffery has the potential to essentially be a Marshall clone. I've heard a lot of things about his work ethic, some saying it's questionable and others saying that he's been given a bad reputation undeservedly. He was pretty fit this season... if memory serves, the Bears hired a personal trainer just for him.

I've got no problem with Marshall calling anybody out. He's rapidly become my favorite player on the team, not just for his level of ability, but his determination to get better and hold himself, and his teammates, responsible.

While half of the team was ****ing and moaning about how unfair things were, how mean the fans were, and how little they cared about our opinions, Marshall was all like, "No, you're right to boo, we do suck, we all need to play better." That's the adult response, not the juvenile crybaby nonsense that creates a warped view that they as players should only get lauded even while underperforming.

Agree with everything you said. Love Marshall.

I remember a discussion I had with a few Bears fans 1-2 years ago about trading for Marshall. I was all over that idea and would have given up a 2nd & 3rd. Some did not even want him for free back then.

Well, to be fair, there were a lot more question marks surrounding him back then based on his.... let's just say off-the-field antics. I don't think anyone could've guessed that he would've turned a corner this much.

And, come to think of it, sounds like the other guys were right to disagree with you, considering how we gave up even less than you suggested for a better version for him!

yeah, I was surprised we got him for 2 3rds only. Guy is a beast and a Top5 WR for years now. He even was without a QB with the Fins.

Word is that Trestman really wants to upgrade our OL. Finally, a coach that wants this and wants success. It also looks like he prefers big players there. Like Carimi as guard...

Tough to swallow the pride and admit Carimi was wasted as a RT pick, but he's just much better suited to play guard. He may eventually develop into a quality tackle, but with the defense being where it's at (age), the Bears don't have time to wait.

Maybe draft a RT in round 2 or 3, sign a backup, and get one of the various LTs available in free agency. 1st round pick should be either MLB or TE, depending on who's available at 20. Getting Eifert would be amazing.

So they're having local tryouts down by the Y?

as german, I'd love to get Vollmer on the Bears and solve our RT spot. Give Carimi a chance to win a guard starting spot and if not, he will be the swing tackle.

rumor is that he was never healthy and played on 1 leg. Now add the bad coaching and you saw the results.

Hopefully he will be healthy and what we need. I trust in Emery and start to like Trestman after all he said and I read. Guy likes a great OL with big guys you can't get around. That will keep the pocket clean

So we can stop the myth that the Bears defense is no good if they arent getting turnovers

@ZachZaidman: #Bears defense since 2004: 1st in takeaways, 1st in 3 & out drives forced and 1st in opp. red zone scoring efficiency.

I hope the Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffery tweet is nothing. Jeffery has a ton of potential. I hope he's fully committed to reaching that potential. Marshall would be a good guy for him to work with all offseason.

It's also really early in the offseason. Jeffrey may have been in decent shape this season, but he needs to add muscle. Like many wideouts coming out of college, they are very lean and "soft". (Yes, Marshall was too). A couple offseasons in the weight room and he will look just as beastly as Marshall. Hopefully he gets on it while he has the time.

I'm not at all in panic mode regarding our defense for this upcoming season. And it's pointless for anyone else to be especially before the Draft and Free Agency.

To those of you discussing the topic earlier, here is a decent writeup on the Bears new Defensive Coordinator, Mel Tucker. Give's some decent background and context to his coaching history:

Who is Mel Tucker?

Interesting read.

nobody should be in panic mode about defense, but that doesn't mean there's not room for improvement.

the real problem is the offense
