no problem, after this season we're used to watching struggling veteran qbs... rookie qbs would be refreshing.

If I have to watch an Eskimo QB struggle I'd rather it be a youngster with upside than a veteran with none. The fact that candidates for the position of Eskimos starting QB in 2013 could include Henry Burris (38 years old in June), Kerry Joseph (40 in Oct.) or Kevin Glenn (34 in June) shows the extent to which the CFL QB well is running dry. Time is even ticking on unproven potential free agent signing Adrian MacPherson (turning 30- same age as Steven Jyles in 2012). That's why I think the right choice is to follow Calgary's lead and go with a younger starter with a veteran around strictly as insurance.

Great signing.

Wonder if they'll lock in Williams as well.

Lions sign Lulay for 2 years at $450 000 per year
http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=413744

That probably makes him one of the highest paid players in the CFL (i think, not sure) thats pretty good money for a CFLer

That's about what Ricky Ray was getting before the Eskimos got him to take a salary reduction two seasons ago.

As I recall there was a late season resurgance by the Eskimos last year, what was that all about, something changed for the better and it almost resulted in a late season winning streak going into the playoffs. What was it that changed????Come on now,it was something, now what was it??

I think that the coaching staff finally began to approach their tactics with more continuity and flow and began making roster decisions based on dynamic results not pieces of paper.I wonder why we suddenly saw a much different use of our most talented players during that little positive streak-maybe someone ought to investigate this anomaly and try to foster it into the Eskimos game next year from the start of the season??

I hope you meant Julius Williams and not Rod Williams. Because if you didn't, please wash your mouth out with soap.

Look for the team to hire George Cortez as their new OC very soon. Just got a feeling.

Why is that? Sure, he bombed as a head coach this year, but I've always felt he produced a decent offensive game plan during his time as an OC. Would be a massive upgrade on what we have.

Dave Campbell said it was unlikely that Cortez would be hired. This was shortly after he said they would announce one quite soon.

I totally agree. Im all for Cortez coming here to run our offense. Sadly, I dont think that will happen, but Im still hoping nonetheless.

I remember someone from Hamilton saying when Cortez was let go that he's not just going to leave for any job. He has a good salary coming to him for 2 or 3 more years.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced they have agreed to terms with former Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach George Cortez to become the team's offensive coordinator on Monday. Cortez returned to the CFL last year as Hamilton's head coach and director of football operations after two years with the Buffalo Bills as quarterbacks coach

I sure hope we offered him the position here and he chose there instead, but something tells me that Kavis is insisting on keeping Crandell around and that no offer to Cortez was made.

What a joke of an organization.

Thought our problems were over when we got rid of the gnome. Looks like we traded in one set of problems for another.

You really thought that the problems were done when Tillman was gone?

Steven Jyles released by Eskimos? He'd been dead man quarterbacking since last August. Expect Mike Reilly as free agent signing.

Good, but not unexpected.

I sure hope Joseph is released too. But I expect Kavis's buddy gets to stick around as long as he wants to. After all, why make decisions based on play when you can do it based on who you like hanging out with?
