C'mon guys lets all make a pact not to boo him.. I'd really hate to see a grown man pout on the ice.

In Slovakia (and many European countries), the crowd doesn't boo. They whistle to show disapproval.

Yes. It explains why he's decided to break the rules. It doesn't matter because he shouldn't be breaking the rules.

Honestly - I would be the happiest if I could finish the season in Slovan, but given the fact that this possibility has been denied, I'm actually looking forward to playing hockey for Islanders. But I do know that the crowd and the atmosphere won't be the same as here. I'm afraid how they will receive and welcome me after what has happened in the media."

I guess he'll be in New York by the end of the month.
lucky for him by the time he gets here there will be 8,000 people in the crowd and about 75% of those people will have no clue who he is or the history over the last few weeks with him

personally, I wish there was a way the Isles could tell him to stay in Slovakia and just cut him(without paying him of course)

Won't boo Vis.

Think of how much better this team will be + Visnovsky and - Finley?

We can have Reasoner follow Visnovsky around the ice, blowing a whistle.

Pretty much. Although it's of course not a "funny" whistling, but a very aggressive one. It might sound silly or funny to someone who isn't used to it, but the other way round I would say it's much more intimidating and I find "booing" sounds in reality much funnier.

Matter of cultural perspective. Absolutely, booing seems funny, "animal"-like to Europeans.

If you want to see "aggressive whistling" in action, check out the clip below. Slovan's most nervous home game this season. Lots of fighting. And whistling, too. For example, at 0:57, the visiting team (Astana) are on a power-play. At 2:00, Janus deflects a penalty shot. Followed by a fight.

I don't care, I don't like to root for players who do not want to be here, and he does not want to be here

only way I will be satisfied with him coming here is if we trade him at the deadline and maybe get a 2nd round pick back

aggressive whistling is what construction workers do when any female walks by, at least, they used to, when it was cool to do so.

I feel the same way but with our luck he'll refuse to report to the new team and he'll get that trade voided.

You don't have to get your skirt and pom poms out for this guy.. All I'm saying is this team is better with him than it is with a guy like Finley.. A lot better.

Yup, same thing with soccer around Europe. It's actually pretty intimidating.

I think a whole stadium full of people whistling is more effective then boos. Whistling is louder and more annoying.

As long as he plays hard he won't get booed. I think he'll get razzed the first time he touches the puck, but as long as he doesn't pull a Kirk Muller fans will leave him be.

Sounds like a typical 15 year old spoiled American teenager type of statement.

Thanks for the laugh.

I believe they do that whistling up in Montreal too, used to do it in Quebec also. Two very much European type areas.

The LA Kings' defenceman Matt Greene is out for the season with a back injury. Hurry, Isles, trade Lubo to the Kings to get your 2nd-round draft pick back. Your Isles seem to be doing well enough without Lubo.

Streit 29:18 toi today.

MacDonald 27:02 toi today.

Hamonic 21:08 toi today, despite being hobbled with with a foot injury after a shot off his foot.

Let your KHL team, lend the LA Kings one of your d-men. The Isles need Vis.
