Defenseman To LA Kings

With news that Matt Greene is out for the year

Quote:
@TheFourthPeriod: As per @TSNBobMcKenzie, Kings dman Matt Greene is out for the year, ouch! LA was looking for D before, that'll push search into high gear
https://twitter.com/TheFourthPeriod/...04492618539008

Looks like LA is in the market for a defenseman -- or does one of their players in the AHL get the call up?

Muzzin is up from the AHL right now, but I'm not expecting much. They're going to need to trade for an established, gritty veteran to take Greene's spot. A third pairing of Drewiske and Muzzin is a trainwreck. Loktionov is in play.

Ouch. That just pretty much killed any chance of an SC repeat.

So all I've heard about Loktionov is that he refused to report to the AHL and bolted for Russia. How's his play?

You can have Bickel for a donut. Torts would finally stop playing him.

TO me he looks like one of those players you always think should be better than he is. If Stoll would have bolted as a UFA I would have been comfortable with him in the lineup.

You must have him confused with someone else.

I can see Lokti and Richardson/picks being moved before Gagne.

Gagne was the odd man out at practice today.

I was thinking this before I even came in. Could the Devils help the Kings mere months after they beat them in the SCF?

Sucks to lose Greene for the year. If the Kings wanted some of what he brings in a trade, Volchenkov makes more sense than Tallinder. However, I think both could make sense for Los Angeles.

How about something like Richardson for Weber from Buffalo, straight up? Decent bottom-pairing guy (although played poorly at times last year) who's physical and defensive-minded. Will bring next to nothing on offense but isn't bad on the defensive side and was second on our team in hits last season. Will fight as well. We might not trade him in real life because of the Ott connection but I'd take Richardson for depth as a spare forward. He's better than Ellis.

I'd do Richardson for Weber. The Kings need a physical, defensive-minded player as a replacement.

Could help both teams. I think it's very fair and makes sense.

Buffalo has gotten way better at center but when injuries strike Richardson's not a bad guy to play on a fourth line. Both are spares on their respective teams so neither would lose significant pieces and it'd help the Kings out now. Like I said, Matt Ellis, a hard-working but borderline NHL player, is the guy filling in as the spare forward and already had to play a game because of an injured Leino. He works hard but doesn't bring too much. I'd rather have Richardson.
