I was thinking this before I even came in. Could the Devils help the Kings mere months after they beat them in the SCF?
Sucks to lose Greene for the year. If the Kings wanted some of what he brings in a trade, Volchenkov makes more sense than Tallinder. However, I think both could make sense for Los Angeles.
How about something like Richardson for Weber from Buffalo, straight up? Decent bottom-pairing guy (although played poorly at times last year) who's physical and defensive-minded. Will bring next to nothing on offense but isn't bad on the defensive side and was second on our team in hits last season. Will fight as well. We might not trade him in real life because of the Ott connection but I'd take Richardson for depth as a spare forward. He's better than Ellis.
You've convinced me. Weber for Richardson is the best so far.
Could help both teams. I think it's very fair and makes sense.
Buffalo has gotten way better at center but when injuries strike Richardson's not a bad guy to play on a fourth line. Both are spares on their respective teams so neither would lose significant pieces and it'd help the Kings out now. Like I said, Matt Ellis, a hard-working but borderline NHL player, is the guy filling in as the spare forward and already had to play a game because of an injured Leino. He works hard but doesn't bring much too much. I'd rather have RIchardson.
Agreed. Weber seems like the type of player that could replace Greene's role on the third pair. How does he play on the PK?
Really? didn't see that, idk I like Gagne still and I really want to see line of Gagne-Richards-Carter together, I just don't want to see him shipped out.

I think so. It doesn't require the Kings to panic and make a big move and take on a bigger contract and give up something significant. Just a smaller move to make a fix.

He's decent on the PK (can play on your second PK unit). Will block shots. A problem with him at times have been giveaways but it was moreso last year. He can play both sides too.

Weber is not going to go anywhere unless its a bigger trade.
Weber and Ott view each other as brothers . Otts parents took care of weber when in juniors. During a recent sabres road trip last year...the sabres asked players to bring their moms with them ( they have one ones where they brought their dads ) weber brought Otts mom with him.
Look at Leopold , sekera, or breenen and trade able.

Sounds kinda like Greene. Hopefully Darcy and Dean are on the same page!

The guy who isn't even playing for the Sabres is going to require a bigger trade? I'm not seeing it.
Just kidding, he's part of our best defensive pair. Tallinder and Volchenkov for a top nine forward is fine with me. Maybe we can get one of the guys that bolted to the SEL too as part of the deal.

So because Weber and Ott are like brothers means Weber is untouchable and shouldn't be traded? Relationship to Ott or not, I would hope Regier pulls the trigger on any trade that is fair and makes his team better if it's out there. Weber will not fetch us nearly as much as Sekera or Leopold in a trade. Sekera shouldn't even be trade bait anyway and neither should Leopold right now IMO. Weber is the most likely trade piece with us carrying so many defensemen. We don't need both him and Brennan in the the press box, so why not trade him for a forward to better our center depth?
Ott and Weber have a good relationship and a nice story, but if shipping Weber out improves our team, I'd hope to God Regier would look past that and make a trade. I hope this isn't the way Regier runs things and I suspect it isn't, considering the relationship Derek Roy had with Sabres brass and he was shipped out anyway. It's professional sports and a business first. All hockey players understand that and management should too.
Weber honestly deserves to be playing anyway. He's still a pretty decent bottom-pairing guy and he's better than a spare sitting in the press box but he won't get playing time with all our guys healthy.
A little OT but I don't want to start a new thread. With everyone only playing within their conference, LA is now hurting, would a Western Conference team trade to help them without a massive overpayment or is their best bet to trade with an Eastern Conference team? Essentially does this short schedule change with whom you will trade?
Most likely if Hawks gave up on Brookbank this quick (1 game) they would get a mid or late round pick
I just see a log jam in the 5-6 spot for the Hawks. Who knows if Montador will be back, I like what Rozy brings, maybe Oduya.
If the Hawks are involved it would be something like you proposed. It's basically Hjalmarsson for Bernier. Emery doesn't bring much. I just don't like Chicago's back end without Hjalmarsson. Keith and Seabrook, then a significant drop off. Bernier is unproven and might fill that void, but who knows. I haven't written off Crawford after a bad year, but it seems I'm the only one.
not sold on Hjammer myself. i watch a lot of Hawks games. the kid plays with passion and high energy, but there in lies the problem. he gets himself into quite a lot of problems in transition and also on d coverage breakdowns in his own end. on the flip side that same passion and energy lead him to make some very good plays and hits. he's still

I wouldn't think so, but this hasn't happened in years so who knows?
I suppose it could but I doubt it. When the right trade is out there you pull the trigger if you feel it helps you.

I think it is safe to assume that Monty's career is done

Are talking about the Hammer that plays for the Hawks, because Hjalmarsson hardly ever throws a hit. I would think the Kings would be looking for that big physical D.

Ask Steve Sullivan about Hjalmarsson's hitting ability
He wont chase guys around hitting every night but Hammer is known to pick his spots and nail guys
