Jason Arnott?

Lets assume that Bolland can and will stick as the #2 centre and lets say he scores at just over a 50-pont pace (32Pts/48GP).. would anyone want to sign Arnott? He scored 17 goals and 34 points last year and would come in and centre the third line:

Carcillo - Toews - Hossa
Sharp - Bolland - Kane
Bickell - Arnott - Stalberg
Shaw - Kruger - Frolik/Mayers/Bollig

I'd like to fit Saad in somewhere, but hard to find room if Bickell plays well. No point in having him on the 4th line.

As long as Kruger continues to play as well as he has, I would not make a move for a centre unless it was a massive upgrade. Arnott, IMO, is too slow to play with this team anyways.

Arnott is a horrible fit for this team. We are a transition team through and through. Big pass.

Arnott is as slow as Brunette and finished

He would be worst possible fit for team ,, Do people forget how badly he played in 2010 playoffs trying to keep up with Hawks speed

Totally agreed. I was a huge Brunette advocate, and he failed miserably. We need to be uptempo.

I didn't realize Arnott's skating was so bad. I knew he wasn't all that fast, but thought he could at least keep up a bit.

The guys on TSN seem to thing he has a few years left and would be a good addition to any team. I don't think a compaison to Bruno is accurate. He is a much different player with lots of grit in his game. If Stan can get him for cheap, I would give him a shot.

You really, really need to be a fan of a different team. He'd be a good addition to a big forechecking team maybe.. Calgary would be a good place for him. He'd be pure poison to the Hawks.

No thanks. Bowman has learned his lesson from signing old slugs.

Having all players of the same ilk doesn't cut it in the NHL. And don't be deceived by Hawks fast start, We are still soft and need more grit as a step to be a serious contender for the Cup. I know you don't get that though.

Shaw, Bolland, Mayers, Bollig, Carcillo, Seabrook, Hjalmersson (if he's going to continue to hit), Brookbank.....how many sandpaper/hitting types do you think we need?

I don't get it because it's entirely wrong. And lol, good luck getting your "grit" from Jason Arnott.

They can't just be gritty, they have to be slow. BobbyJet has spoken.

It has improved somewhat, and I've heard Carcillo may be out for less than a month. The team seems hungrier for the puck so far. We'll see as the season goes on - it won't take long for games to become playoff-like in intensity.

Please and no thank you.

Think of Brunette and Morrison combined into one old, worn-down pile of suck, and you have Arnott at this point.

Arnott is Bickell like with his size. He's lazy and only shows up physically occasionally.

Im not 100% opposed to it, but... I feel like there are very few places he could fit on this team. Like maybe between Bickell and Mayers because they're the only ones he could maybe keep up with, but I feel like that's even a stretch.

Is he good at faceoffs?

The forward the Hawks could use is a centerman who can win faceoffs and play PK.

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Sharp-Bolland-Kane
Stalberg-Kruger-Shaw
Bickell-NewGuy-Frolik/Bollig

Hell to the No! Big slow Ox! If Stan had a brain he'd have brought Peter Mueller in. I like him he's got good hands he played with Kane in the 07 World Juniors, and has a history of concussion problems so he fits right in with our team.

god no. When I think how many were against Gomez... there should be no chance that we like Arnott.

Slow, Slower, Brunette, Arnott

Rather just sign a euro guy or trade a 7th for whatever AHLer

I certainly don’t view a player like Arnott as some kind of saviour, but for a 1 year term he could add more depth even if he didn’t play regularly. If we can spot a guy like Bollig, surely a veteran like Arnott can be of benefit in a short season (that will seem very long before it is done). And it’s a bonus that he can play center. Not sure how he is at face-offs, but I doubt he is worse than what we have now. Even if he turns out to be another bust like Brunette, there will be no harm done. It’s not even a fair comparison since Bruno does not play center, was acquired to play in the top 6 and the PP ... and is by no means physical.

If Bowman can get Arnott very cheaply, Q promises not to fall in love with him, and Kruger continues to impress then I wouldn't mind Arnott being signed for the fourth line. He had a very hard time keeping 5 on 5 for the Blues last year and the Hawks play at a much higher tempo. If he is just signed for the fourth line and for the occasional extra center on important face offs then I think he could be an asset. If his role is anything beyond that I think he will do more harm than good.

I mentioned this before the lockout and got **** on by a bunch of people.

Don't imagine their opinions changed, and by the looks of some of the posts, they haven't. I still think he would be OK for the 4th line.
