He brings a dimension to this game every team looks for in their defense, he brings back old time hard-hitting hockey that keeps players and yet very strong skater who can handle the puck. Amazing player and pickup.

I do not think there is a single person in Ottawa missing Nick Foligno anymore.

Its funny because Nick Foligno got an interference penalty running Howard in the first period of DET/CBJ. Ah memories..

Methot is more than I hoped for. Skates, hits and passes. What more could you ask.

We'll have a big strong left side next year Methot, Cowen and PW with Boro in reserve. Philips will have to play the right side if he wants a regular shift.

Game 1 was no fluke. Glad to see him fitting in so well.

But.... but... we have such an horrible "pro scouting"

Methot, Turris and Anderson would like to say hi.

Heck, Michalek, Gonchar and Latendresse too.

Eventually one of the "local guys" wouldn't suck.

Cowen today is still not the monster he will be in the future. Cowen/Weir would be a scary pairing.

Methot not taking stupid penalties and being tough is great.

You're acting like this is a comparison. We didn't WANT Cowen to get injured, I don't understand your post. Cause someone before said Methot is replacing Cowen's abilities right now? I would actually agree with him. If Cowen was playing like Methot right now we'd all go nuts. He probably could have but it sucks he was injured and thankfully Methot is brought in to add the physical side Cowen's absence left.

Just get the feeling that people will be penciling him ahead of Cowen.

I am very sensitive when a topic on Cowen arises

I wouldn't worry. Methot's job is to protect Karlsson. Cowen's job (like EK) will be to be a difference maker.

Lol, not even. I have enormous hopes for Cowen. Like the guy said above me, Methot is to be a complementary defender for Karlsson and give us that defensive stability for him. I expect Cowen to be the all-around package in himself. Offense and defense.

He's not just a typical shutdown guy. This guy can skate, and actually hold onto the puck when facing pressure from the forwards. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Next season

Methot- Karlsson
Cowen- Wiercioch

OHHH YEAAAA

It really sucks that Cowen is out for the season, he looked unbelievable in the first bingo games and was on the verge of breaking out.

With Ceci coming into the mix soon, along with Borowiecki and others like Wikstrand, Claesson, Gryba........I hope people start to realize that defense will be our strong point in the future. A ton of good d-men in the system.

Just because of the way you write out a depth chart. This team will have "Karlsson's pairing" and "Cowen's pairing" more than a first and second pairing.

Which will be brilliant.
