Has it been a joke? Not surprised, the whole situation has been a beauty. The latest news is that his son requires minor surgery or something so he won't report until that's taken care of. He is scheduled to report some time in early February and has said, he's 'looking forward' to it.

In any case, he can definitely help the Isles with our sad blue line. He could be a deadline deal if he gets over here and plays well. It's clear that he's done with the NHL after this so he'd be strictly a rental.

Red Wings defence changed from top class to absolutely **** in few months.

I would love a trade for a really good D. Sacrifice Flip and some of the better forward prospects. We really need a reliable Dman.

The Wings defense hasn't been top class since 08 or 09.

The deterioration of Rafalski's knees, the wearing down of Stuart and aging of Lidstrom made this defense much less than top class.

Now, however, it is among the worst in the NHL

UPDATE: We've signed defenseman Kent Huskins to a one-year deal, re-called Gustav Nyquist from GR, and placed Bertuzzi and Colaiacovo on IR.

Bert on IR? I'm guessing due to the Nyquist call-up to make the 23 man roster? He's due to play Friday. His mono test was a false-positive at first. Babcock just wants to get his legs going again before jumping into a game.
