I call BS. Why the hell would he say this instead of just finishing the deal and then announcing it?

It's an unexpected team that needs to move a certain player

Probably just using the media to push another team to give up more than their offering

So there are no tweets or news/rumors of any team/player who would be moving to the other direction?

Noticed: Do we have any players that we should be moving/getting rid of/etc. (concerning Gillis comment)?

Hint: Stay tuned

Classic.

Now that Gillis realizes there's no market for Luongo and his contract, he brings up a mystery team who just has to move some pieces around.

What a load of crap. It's the oldest trick in the book Gillis, get with the program.

It could be with tweaks.

Take it for what its worth to you, but as I mentioned earlier, they are in talks with Tampa Bay and apparently things have increased in the past 24 hours.

Gillis will be expecting a call from Nonis and Tallon over the next little while to see if there's any other ground to be made between them.

That would actually be a very sensible deal for both clubs given the circumstances.

Schneider has been so good this season so they will really be moving fast with Luongo.

Hint: Toronto wanting to move fast with Kulemin(?)
Hint2: Tim Connolly in the wrong league/place(?)Stoner5

won't work cap-wise for Vancouver. Even with a Ballard buyout

Yeah, you know.... if you ignore the salary cap. That would leave Van with 1.5 million in cap space to sign 9 players next season. Even if they buyout Ballard they would have to sign 10 players to league minimum contracts--- have you ever seen a team like that be competitive?

Still, looking at all rosters and especially goaltenders in the league. The only team that really needs a goalie is Toronto.

So after that last night's game (low scoring example) Carlyle and everybody realized that we can't be winning these low scoring games with our current goalies. So a trade must be in the works? Interesting to see who's moving the other direction.

So if it's Vinny for Lou straight up, then according to Gillis, there's a mystery team they have a tentative deal with, but it depends on a player blah blah blah...what would the hold up be? Maybe Vinny's NTC...will he waive it for Vancouver?

Three goals against in 2 games means we have a goalie problem? Granted, we were lucky a bunch of times in those games.

Riems will be in against the Penguins and sitting against the Rangers.

As others have stated, it cannot be one-for-one because it would really leave Vancouver in a tight spot.

With that said, if they cannot find the other pieces to make it work then this "tentative" deal wouldn't ever come to.

Your guess is as good as mine at this point, I just heard that Gillis has been chatting with TB brass as well as the other teams that arn't so much a mystery.

I don't know if it is Vinny, but it would make sense if there is more cap going TB's way.

As for Vinny waiving his NTC, I could see him doing it for the Nucks.

Florida and Toronto are still very much options if they're willing to come off of their stance.

I feel like the media has fallen in love with the idea of it being Kadri and Bozak. There are other options here people.

I think if the leafs are a possible destination the trade could easily revolve around a guy like Kulemin.
Kulemin and Colborne seems like a fair price.

If I didn't want the team to stick it out and inadvertently tank than I'd say done deal, easily. I'd even add if we're aiming for playoffs.

At this point, Kulemin's stock is as high as it has been since his 30-goal season due to his success in the KHL.

He's garnering interest, but its whether or not Carlyle see's him as a productive member of this team. If him and Nonis do not, now would be the time to sell high on Kulemin.

Randy isn't expecting another 30 goals out of Kulie, but what he wants is a good fore checking game and sound defence out of him, and if he returns to that 30-goal form then that is a bonus.

But at this point, I feel as if Kulemin is destined to stay on the 3rd line with Kadri and become a perfect fit on a typical Carlyle 3rd line.

Toss the Habs into the mix.

Vinny to Mtl, Luongo to Tampa, ?? to Vancouver

Hilarious, but I think the best hockey move for Gillis is to trade Schneider for assets (I would consider a one for one for Grabs). The cap situation in Van is a mess that Gillis created. He has a 2 or 3 year window with the Sedins to win a cup. Luongo is still elite for this period but is unmovable for positive assests with his contract. If Van wins the cup in the next 2 years, Gillis gets to keep his job....otherwise.....

Smells to me like Gillis trying to force teams hands. Whether that's Toronto or not, I'm not sure.

Yup.

It is just the next hand being played.

After the start of the season and several other stories coming to the front lines, this one nearly fell to the backdrop despite Lou getting a start in place of Schneider.

The season openers became headlines for each of their respective teams and the Lou controversy sort of fell by the way-side and GMs became occupied with other things.

I sure hope it's Grabo's 5.5 for Luongo's 5.33. Almost makes too much sense.

That'll get a lot of hate around here I'm sure but I'd do it and slide the other centres up- Kadri to 2nd C, McClem to 3rd, and put Steckel @ 4th. I really don't like that Grabo contract, ever since the minute I heard of it.
