C. I'll be looking for the differences in coverage. Before, when TOR was in the mix, TSN had a certain slant and major time dedicated to the issue. Now that they are all but out, I wonder how things will change. We'll see which way they lean this time around, after Gillis's ... ahem, "reprimand".

Good thing your not GM! Nonis has been known to be patient. That's what this team needs right now

Upcoming UFA goaltenders at the end of this season:
Niklas Backstrom
Jimmy Howard
Jose Theodore
Evgeni Nabokov
Mike Smith

Luongo's value is behind all of theirs this offseason

Exactly. Luongo over every one of those, every day of the week.

Although rarely are any fans happy with the return from trades, I appreciate the sentiment. Kadri, from what I've seen both on the Marlies and the first two games, looks to be a gem. I don't know if he has a history of consistency issues like Kassian (played his best games early on and then lost AVs trust) but it hasn't seemed like it in the AHL. Initially I believed that having both goalies would be a good thing (and it still could be) but I am now in the boat that one needs to go, and it looks to be Luongo. Fans shouting Luuu when Schneider gets scored on is discraceful and the constant media attention to the "goalie controversy" is annoying to me and I'm not even directly involved.

C. If TO media discussed it...would it surprise you? Hockey central/that's hockey are about...well...hockey. This would be a hockey story....no?
Is it not a possibility that this player either has a not trade clause or is an unsigned UFA that needs to be signed first?

From my understanding all Gillis said is that they are waiting on another teams player. He never implied for exactly what.

I could see the Islanders, Minny, or even San Jose making a play. Like he said in the TSN article, it's "who nobody thinks it is".

no class today, so I jus turned it on!

Watch, after all this speculation and people who supposedly know inside into one management or the other, this Luongo trade will be broken without anyone previously knowing and involving pieces nobody has been talking about. Would be classic Gillis

I just love how Kadri, Bozak and Scrivens are considered stars after two regular season games.

I just love it.

I would take Backstrom or Smith over Luongo at this stage in their careers.

No one considers them stars. Is it hard for you to say they've looked ok in the 1st 2 games?

It has got to the point where this saga has now been more draining than the Bure saga where he walked out and Burke had to wait 8 months to trade the guy.

You are incorrect about no media guy knowing anything. McKenzie said he heard rumblings, and Simmons confirmed. I don't care if you believe it, I saw it.
I believe Bobby Mac, but not Simmons. Simmons is a huge Leaf/burke hater he would've jumped on anything he could have to stir up Burke stress level.....lol.

Jim Vandemeer was put on waivers yesterday and has probably cleared by now. The strange thing is that the Canucks have not recalled anyone yet for the open roster spot? Usually teams fill that spot quickly so the coach knows what he has to work with for the next game.

Given Luongo's asking price and term remaining, why would a GM prefer him over a guy they could get for free? It isn't like all those guys suck and RL is a million times better than them.

Few people believe they are stars, but the Kadri hype is justified imo. The kid has been doing great at the AHL level, and has looked dangerous every shift in his first two games. Nobody is calling him a superstar, but if Schroeder had 2 goals in two games I would be hyping the **** out of him.
If Scivens had played bad, he would of been called a bust, but if he plays well he is overrated?

I am surprised that Schroeder hasn't been called up, he is a significant improvement over Ebbett and has more than paid his dues in the minors.

If there was a deal this close as Gillis says, why is there no chatter from insiders and or beat guys of the team he is about to be traded to?

Nope, they have looked 'ok'.

I just find it hilarious how 2 games has so much sway on peoples opinions. I didn't really watch too much of the games, so I can't really comment on their play...but they showed up on the score sheet, and that is all that matters for some.
