Don't want to be insensitive, but how about Minnesota considering Backstrom is UFA and Harding has been diagnosed with MS? Plausible? Don't know if Luongo would waive to go there though. Not sure what they have that we want either, I doubt they give up Granlund.

That rules out Florida, Philly, Chicago, TO and Edm imho. All have been linked extensively to RL.
So do we know then who else he would waive it for?

I don't see the Islanders being involved, Nabby has been great on the ice and in the room. Unless Nabby is involved in the trade which wouldn't make sense anyway. No way we would trade for Luongo just to have him play backup to Nabby or vise-versa.

Backstrom's a good goalie, but his contract has been too large for comfort ever since it was signed. This is doubly true with the signings in July. Even assuming they have concerns in goal (which they don't) Luongo's contract would be a non-starter.

Winnipeg is my out of left field guess.

Detroit is an interesting one too, depending on what they intend to do with howard.

He is an anchor with that contract, you ain't getting blue chip talent (at least not from the Caps) that is currently in the NHL....

that contract is TERRIBLE under the new CBA...you guys are going to be sorely disappointed with the return you get and I guarantee the trade does not involve the Caps. GMGM doesn't do this type of stuff...

Tampa is going with Lindback ,, They aren't trading for Luongo

Same with Bobrovsky in Columbus

No reason for either Columbus/TB to be mentioned

New Jersey Devils.

Not sure what they would offer up.

Haven't seen their names mentioned.

If Detroits smart, they will keep Howard, as he's a fine goalie, Jonas on the other hand...

Has Stevie Y really changed his philosophy though? Tampa Bay always has been the best trading partner IMO as far as needing a goalie and a preferred destination of Luongo.

Minnesota can't afford to take on another long term contract. God forbid Luongo/Parise/Suter all retire before their contracts end, Minnesota would go bankrupt with the penalties of the new CBA.

I'm not saying Leafs fans are saints but I guess other teams have a taste of what Canucks fans want for Luongo now.
