I'd take Holtby as a back-up to Dubnyk. I watched him his entire junior career and in the offseason he works out at my gym. He's a hard worker who still needs a bit of time to develop and probably shouldn't be shouldering the brunt of the load in Washington yet.

"a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have "

If the player in question is a big money goalie, then the team could be anybody.

would a Hemsky for Luong trade work? The Nucks are in a win now mode as the window is closing. Hemsky put on a show the other night so ti would be easy for the fans to accept.

Maybe Gillis's statement about the other team making a move is a Duby trade? I like Dubnyk but Luongo is one of the better NHL goalies and would be a cornerstone for our 5 year window.

Gillis spills to the media that a deal is close - putting Lou in limbo while he's trying to concentrate on just playing the game (good timing considering the start Vancouver's had, and the "goalie controversy") - effectively showing everyone how much of an ass he is....

Tambo's fault...

jk...but it's been a while since anything's been his fault, and i got to do one of these posts.

Disregarding cap issues, Chicago, Philly and TB would be the most obvious guesses as they could all use goaltending upgrades.

NYI would be a longshot guess with Colorado an even longer shot.

Chicago makes no sense as they are bitter rivals IMO.

The Nucks are terrified of Chicago -- management, owners, player, fans, all of them. That might be the last team in the league they'd trade him to.

Why would we help out the Canucks by giving them Hemsky. I don't think the Canucks are going to get a return like that for Luongo's contract. I'd rather see them pay one of their "star" goalies to sit on the bench.

A Dubnyk/Holtby combo would be a dream......if the sticking point really is "done deal but team needs to move player out" let's go get Holtby

Since Luongo has to waive his no-trade for any trade to go through, he probably knows far more about what's going to be worried by what Gillis says in public.

I expected Twitter to be more abuzz with potential Luongo suitors, but I'm not seeing anything yet.

Probably because there is actual hockey to cover now.

Yeah but you'd think the usual guys would be all over a big trade like this.

I honestly don't think they care. Unless there is something major to report they are sitting back.

I don't, I don't want Luongo anywhere in the Western Conference.

I was more thinking Ryan Malone but I don't know his contract status. Can't look it up too or I'd have to upgrade my answer to educated and risk the shame that comes with it.

Would be amusing if they got Ohlund or Salo back though too!

Wow. Crappy for the Isle if true. If we weren't so stacked on the wings I'd give Nino a shot.

I was just going to come post this...interesting development. The Isles are a bit of a gongshow right now, to say the least.

He had a rough time in the NHL but was doing very well in the AHL so far this year.

Poor Isles.

First Vish and now Nino. Truth be told I wouldn't mind taking a flyer, and correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Ralph coached him before? Price will probably be too much.

Still that franchise is in the tough right now.
