I miss being the only Johansson hater.

Now its cool and I'm not longer a hater, not only that people wanting to trade him.

Did anyone watch him during the lockout? The only games I watched were the ones from the Channel One cup and he was confident and had a very strong puck possession game, was really good at protecting the puck and was flying. He was also according to everyone(and I agree with them) was Swedens best player during the Channel One cup.

Reilly, as nice as he would be to have, doesn't address our biggest needs. We need a top-4 D and a scoring winger more. Whatever assets we have should be spent for those spots first.

He addresses a long term organizational need and would elevate the play of the team this year. Could probably play as a top 6 RW as well.

Ryan would probably address more of an immediate need, but he'd be more expensive. I'd love to trade Johansson + nonessential pieces for O'Reilly, get him to something long term at 4.5-4.75, trade Perreault + 3rd for Volchenkov and Devils fans have been receptive to, then fill the top 4 D hole (Smid) and a top 6W hole (Ryder, Semin, Clowe, Perry) in the offseason, then have Forsberg and Kuznetsov round out the rest of the W holes as they come over.

I think that this coaching staff's mentality for defensemen is going to do wonders for Orlov's development, which I'm pretty thrilled about. He's always seemed to have "it", as a player.

A bag of peanuts?

The real question, to me, is what would you want to offer to make us want it.

I wish our coaches would feel the need to teach our defensemen to be aggressive playing defense, and not just focus on getting them to be aggressive on offense.

At least not for week 1.

I wish a list could be compiled showing the teams with the softest easiest to play against defense. We have got to be in the top 5 softest defenses. It may have worked for Detroit but there are not many Detroits in the NHL.

You hockey junks may already know the answer - who has a defense less willing to hit or fight more than us?

George went and got Huet and Theo, and he is in the game. While I am intrigued by Luon for Wideman, I think The Sportsnet Central team mentioned us simply because Holtby gave up 6 goals to open the season.

Holtby gave up 5. The other was scored on the empty net.

Who scored on the empty net then? I swear I saw someone score on the empty net. Penguins against Flyers? That was the only other game I watched...

Ok thanks, I stand corrected then. They could have had a few on what seemed like high quality shots on the PP, albeit from poor angles. Goalie play cannot be measured on goals allowed alone, though.

Holtby looked shaky.

No idea.

Last goal was Brewer on a slapper from Purcell and Stamkos with 3+ minutes left.

No apparently you were right. Either way, he didn't look good.

Holtby wasn't close to being the problem.

Try the Young Guns, who loafed around dispassionately at even strength and contributed almost nothing on either end of the ice. These guys are all in the prime of their careers and should be as good if not better than they were a few years ago.

In holtby's defense though, our defense seemed more lost than he was. At least in the 3rd period. Our PK seemed very passive, like BB early years passive. TB did look in mid season form on the PP.

But its always up to the G, the hardest position in hockey.

Losing Hillen was like the straw that broke the camels back.

While I tend to think George would not get Luo I didn't think he would get Huet or Vokoun, either. Add Theo in there.

More than one player can be "the problem" you know. Collectively, the team didn't do Holtby many favors, but he didn't play particularly well, either.

I can't see GMGM taking on Luongo's contract. Their head-to-head history aside, Chicago makes a certain amount of sense. As does Tampa Bay & Edmonton.

@KatieStrangESPN: #Isles Nino Niederreiter's camp is seeking a trade from the Islanders, a source tells ESPNNY. Unhappy with current situation

I guess GMGM will not take any significant moves until summer. Just to give Oates more time and evaluate everything "properly" AKA as bad as usual
