Galchenyuk asked his mother afterward to stay near the net he needed to score on in the next game.

Bust.

Galchenyuk's sister is not unattractive . . . remember seeing her at the draft and being impressed.

Great story too. I assume mini-Gally's parents will be at the game tonight too.

Its confirmed, Gally will play center on the third line (Prust-Gally-Gallagher).

Saw Anna Galchenyuk @ the game on Saturday night, and she is very good looking!

I'd like to see how this experiment of two rookies with one tough guy will work as a shut-down line... Lets just say I have my doubts.

They won't be used as a shutdown line.

I agree. Me thinks they are going to be given some "leg room" to coin a term. In any case, I hope so!

I think they'll get "sheltered minutes", with Prust on that line they also have nothing to fear in terms of intimidation, I actually like the idea of teaming him with the two youngsters.

I do not want to burst anyone bubble but I really doubt they will be used more than the White line. I feel they will be used carefully and they'll end up the line with the less TOI, other than Prust because he'll see some PK time.

It seems that the decision has already been made in regards with Galchenyuk staying or not for all the season with the big club. In an article on lapresse.ca about the ''24 CH'' serie, journalist Hugo Dumas writes that we're going to see the news said to Galchenyuk that he stays for all the season.

''Les caméras ont aussi capté la réaction en direct de la recrue Alex Galchenyuk quand il a appris de la bouche de ses patrons qu'il jouerait toute la saison à Montréal.''

Is this reliable? Why would they make this decision 1 game in?

Not sure if this is 100% accurate... If so, the Habs brass and Galchenyuk himself hide it well.

Could it mean his reaction when he found out he was staying up for game 1? Probably some kind of mix up regarding that.

That reporter might not know the rules and may think making the team at the start = here the whole season. Never seen that guy write about sports.

Hugo Dumas is not a sport journalist, he writes about television. I would not be surprised if he made a mistake there, I thought it was an interesting info to add to the discussion.

Yeah, that crossed my mind too, his brain might be numb from being forced to watch all the crap on TVA and TQS. I still hope he's right.

"the whole season"= Making the team out of camp (includes option to send him down after 5).

If there's a tape like that, this news would have gotten widespread play already.

Here are my thoughts on his first game (somewhat late I admit):

You know how they always say that when you make the jump to the NHL, the play is so much faster and you have less time to react and make your play?

In the first game, I thought Alex looked like someone who was expecting a higher rate of play (and was somewhat nervous about it), and as such, was trying to make passes as soon as he got the puck. Obviously he's going to have to adapt to NHL speed, but unlike most rookies, by actually taking the time to do what he does right.

Anyone else sees something like that?
