Their best chances came really late in the game when they got their goal and had a PP for the last 2 minutes. Other than that there wasn't a ton of quality chances.

Columbus is finally doing it right and getting players that want to play there. Good for them in a few years I think they will be a though opponent. Good move getting rid of Nash

I would hold off on the praise until the rest of the league is back to playing at the NHL level. There has been some pretty brutal hockey being played right now.

I doubt they would make that deal (Eller for Nino)

Personally, (and I know people will hate this) but I would trade Desharnais straight up for Nino. I doubt the NYI would, but if it was offered I would take it.

Save salary (Desharnais is due for a big raise). Clean up the C logjam. Get a great prospect in return. Lose a 0.60 point per game center.

It seriously would be a good move for Montreal, especially long-term. No way NYI goes for it though.

The media would freak out, but what would people think of a Nino/Leblanc swap?

I'd do that in a heartbeat, personally. Doubt the Isles would though.

I'd trade DD for Nino easily, but neither team would ever do it.

I'd make that trade for Eller too, even though I'm skeptical Nino is that great himself. The Islanders won't though.

In a micro second, but you are right NYI would not make that deal.

Desharnais for Nino would be a steal for the Habs.

It's funny how much some people underrate Desharnais on these boards... Anyway I don't blame the guy, he's been treated like garbage and Garth Snow & Charles Wang are clearly putting business before hockey. They messed his development badly when they kept him on the team last year (1 goal in 55GP last year) because of his heavy contract and they wanted to reach the cap floor. He's having a good season in the AHL so he's not a lost cause and will need another 2-3 years before being added to the list of promising prospects that were ruined by organizations who have no clue how to run a team. Anyway if I were Bergevin, I would offer them Weber and a 2nd round pick for him or Diaz for him straight up.

Funny, I would say the contrary, that he's a bit overrated (or at least people are ultra sensitive when discussing him)

I'm actually a fan of DD.

You have to give up talent to get talent. I posted a few reasons why it made sense above.

But I asked the NYI board, and they kind of laughed it off as a major "no", so I suppose the proposal is moot.

They might be willing to get another one of our Swiss defenders since the last guy we had has worked pretty well for them. I'd rahter do Weber as Diaz is starting to look like a decent player and could become another Streit.

You need to take high-risk, high-reward decisions in life or else you'll never succeed at anything.

Isles want to get bigger and tougher down the middle.Desharnais holds no appeal.

Staples had a fan chat on Weds. He says the isles love 6'3 Brock Nelson.

My guess is, they hope one of Strome/Brock Nelson push Frans Nielsen from the 2nd line center spot.

Oh and the fans who propose Leblanc or Kristo for Nino proposals: this isn't fantasy trading on the video game. You have offer something the other gm, would actually want.

The Vancouver Sun is reporting that General Manager Mike Gillis said that there is a potential deal for Roberto Luongo in place.
"We have a potential deal in place with one team that has to do something with another player that they have €" and it's not who anybody thinks it is €" and so we have to wait. (But) we've been offered packages that don't fit what our plan is, what we need," Gillis said. The two teams prominently mentioned have been Florida and Toronto so it seems that both are not in the equation at this time. Do not forget that Luongo has a no-trade contract and he could veto any potential trade. Stay tuned.

Gain a 0.05 point per game winger, what's not to love?

Wait...

*checks height & weight*

*checks draft position*

Ah, got it.

In the unending obsession on this board to find some big superstar we can pin all our future hopes and dreams on, this may be the most hilarious notion yet.

Running a hockey team should be treated like a business not a night at the roulette table. If the Islanders want a prospect or a lower end player sure but Nino has proven to be a mess in the NHL and a player who asked for a trade, neither of these things are positive.

Wow if they trade Luongo we could see that team fall apart. Schneider is not a good starter in the NHL.

I am not pinning my hopes or dreams on anything.

We have a log jam at C. We are cap restrained going forward, DD is due for a raise and Nino is still a very good prospect.

I know a lot of us get ultra sensitive when discussing Desharnais, but to be honest moving him wouldn't be the end of the world.

Either way, the NYI wouldn't do it, so it's pointless to discuss it I suppose.

p.s. I posted his PPG as a negative to the deal. In every deal there are good parts, and bad parts. In this case we would lose our .6PPG center, which is bad, but we would gain cap space next year, a great prospect and some space down the middle. Plus we would add size which is never a bad thing.

Difference is NN has played over 60 games in the NHL while Mcdo didn't play 1 before he was traded. Mcdo also never asked for a trade, no attitude problems with him.

You guys just love drama don't you?

We won't get Nedereitter. Although I would think it would be a good move, a more aggressive organization will make a play for him.

We are more interested in 24ch broadcasts...
