well his goal scoring will likely be on the decline but his overall play and assist numbers may still be going in the positive direction.

True, but he's not exactly a playmaker. He can do more than enough to make up for a possible decline in goal scoring, though.

He's shown plenty of signs of being a playmaker. In fact he's leaned more toward that side of the ledger since converting to center than as a scorer.

Seriously is ridiculous that this thing isn't over with yet.

So much for being close...

I'm hearing Stars and Benn are at a standstill right now. Not sure why. With a couple of days ramp-up needed, Thursday is probably a no-go.

Going to agree here, mostly. Before his NHL career started I thought he would be more of an even split stats guy, 30-30 or 40-40, but his vision and passing ability have been a pleasant surprise. I feel like he was leaning toward being more of a playmaker than goal scorer, which is what precipitated the move to center.

I'm honestly not sure which side is annoying me more at the moment.
Probably both, equally.
So aggravating, even if there's the slight consolation that Subban and O'Reilly are pulling the exact same stunt on their respective teams. Hell, it could be worse...isn't O'Reilly still playing in Russia?

I'd say that could be equal evidence of the colluding to low ball their RFAs.

"Collusion", otherwise referred to as setting the market in a new economic era.

Oh dear... Do they need Scott Beckenbaugh to get the contract done?

Razor just summed it up pretty well.
"The Stars love him, but..it's just business."

If the Stars keep winning, Benn will start losing leverage.

So if Benn does resign. Do they put him on the first or second line? I really like Roy on the top 6 along with Eakin. I hate to see Eakin on the worthless 3rd line.

I don't. It will mean the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines are all better.

He'll be on the top line. Roy will be on the 2nd.
What needs to happen is Reilly and Eakin on the 3rd, but we all know that won't happen.

Wouldn't be worthless if Eakin is playing on it. I'm really happy with his play so far this year. Don't want to rush him into too many big minutes and too much responsibility too early, he's still developing.

If Eakin and Reilly keep playing like this and Nystrom keeps looking "meh", I think it happens. Either way, you love to have depth like that. That'd be a good problem to have.
Plus, you know Roy's got about 3 more games before he gets injured.

I hope not.
Totally serviceable 4th liner.
He creates chances, and never takes penalties.

if you can actually get a 3rd, maybe... but yeah, fine as a 4th liner. at least his shots at the goalie would yield offensive zone faceoffs...

He creates chances, and then screws up said chance. He'll have no room but for a healthy scratch when Benn gets back. Only on a 1-year deal too. Can't see Dallas re-signing him.
