#3 - 01/23/2013 | Boston Bruins @ New York Rangers | 7:30 PM - NBC SPORTS
THE MATCHUP
2013 REGULAR SEASON
GAME #3 - 1/23/2013
@
(2-0-0) ____________ (0-2-0)
TIME 7:30 PM ET ARENA MADISON SQUARE GARDEN - NYC, NY TV NBC SPORTS
QUOTES TO NOTE
Personally, it was a tough night. I really don’t have an explanation other than we just have to work harder and keep getting better.
- Henrik Lundqvist
I don’t think we’re pushing the panic button but it’s not the start we wanted to have. We have to get back to work.
There are a lot of mistakes out there we have to correct and it’s a short season so we’ve got to correct them fast and make sure we come back better.
- Rick Nash
The only thing we should focus on is our mindset. Somewhere along the way, the mindset, if there is even one there, is the wrong one.
That’s what needs to be corrected right now so hopefully we touched upon the right things today and we have an understanding of where we need to be mentally.
- John Tortorella

We need better flow to our game tonight. Boston has really dialed in their game already.

Not calling this a "must-win" yet, but it'd be damn good for the morale and identity of the team.

We need to make better passes and the defense has got to step up. If we do that we will succeed.

If fairy tales have taught humanity something, it's that the team must come out of the gate playing to the best of every player's ability and as a team in unison, reaching their full potential and finally being in touch with their true strength from within and all the magical qualities that makes a team successful and consistent like hard work and some other magical things.
I'd like that a lot. A win that erases the foul memories of the first two and not just a win because we escaped with it.

If this game is a track meet, we'll lose.
Keep their chances down, keep the game tight and counterattack.
Sustained offensive zone pressure. We need it.
Richie has scored. Nasher has scored. Cally has scored. Hell, Pyatt has scored.
Gabby, it's time.

really happy to see the new lines and hope that something similar at least goes through. i think the way they were in games 1 and 2 were just asking for failure. gaborik needs somebody taking attention away from him to play his game. nash does not. richards warrants way more attention from the defense than stepan.
personally in an ideal scenario i'd want to see:
kreider/stepan/nash
hagelin(in puck chase form)/richards/gaborik
pyatt/halpern/callahan
rupp/boyle/asham
hagelin and richards just take so much more attention from gabby and allow him the space to do what he does best. i think stepan will accent nash's play style in all the best ways while still freeing richards up to peel attention off of gaborik. i don't see kreider reaching his potential playing with boyle. throw him down there once he's confident defensively. we don't need the kid playing against #1 lines. as opposed to the current projected lineup --- you don't load the talent into one line and you add a little bit of defense w/ the all-star forwards.
for now torts has a great lineup set. if the lines go into the game like this we're going to have a good time.
