was Mason not a top young G at one time? Reimer was in the ECHL , Leafs were desperate and he had a good run for 20 games.
Jim Carrey was a top young goalie at one point. Ditto Andrew Raycroft. How'd those guys turn out?
And you're judging the fact that he's an AHL goalie by his performance so far this season?
And for what it's worth, Tim Thomas was in the AHL, ECHL, IHL, SM-Liiga, and SEL before making it to the NHL. Not that I'm a Tim Thomas fan, but the idea that Reimer's future is already determined is straight up nonsense.
Please, random Rangers fan, please enlighten us poor old Leaf fans about the harsh truths of our team and how a worse teams trash would turn to gold.
"Worse team"? Glass houses, buddy. Or should we start talking about recent playoff appearances?

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!
If both goalies don't turn it around this season I'd be okay with this for a change of scenery type of thing. I do want to see Mason play at least once or twice this season though. I think the Avs game would be a good chance for him, Bob deserves the next again against Phoenix though. He is 90% of the reason we have 3 points right now.
The Leafs are above no one right now. There's no "worse team" when it comes to the Leafs.
sure there are habs, jackets, NYI, currently the flyers, NYR. the team might have some holes but now their are signs of a system something Wilson never had

No. The Leafs talking about "worse teams" is like a person who is 4'10" calling someone who is 4'9" short.
The years Columbus did not quality; or the one where they were swept? Being swept is not much of an appearance.
10 seasons without qualifying; 1 "appearance" where you were swept. Congrats!
Heck; the Leafs made the playoffs 4 times in that span. Never swept.
Keep your chin up; maybe Columbus will win a playoff game some day.
And maybe if we stay positive we will actually make it back. What right do we have to make fun of another franchise or their fans?
Columbus made some bold moves lately. What have we done? there moves didnt work, but they tried.
I don't want the original deal though, I feel Mason isn't that big of an upgrade. We need someone who's been a little more consistent then Mason if we are giving up on Reimer completely. Not someone as seasoned as Luongo as we aren't ready but maybe someone a little more inbetween the 2
Lol this is a classic example of why hfboards is so ****ty. There's so much animosity between fan bases here a regular conversation is impossible, it has to be bickering.
Toronto fans vs Columbus fans arguing about which team is worse? Really? REALLy?

There's no arguement to be had. Unless we're going to consider the 2-3 game sample size of this season, the Leafs are the better team.

Just no point. The only chance Mason has is going to a system that puts him in a position to succeed and Toronto is not that.
actually, toronto IS that under carlyle. real question is does this trade help both organizations? well, they exchange goaltenders with fairly equal numbers when you factor in the markets theyve been playing in. if they both wanted out, then it makes sense. then OP tried to balance salary with Connolly... herein lies the problem!
remember a week ago when connolly cleared waivers? that meant no NHL team wanted him at that salary.
At the end of the day, the person who's 4'10" is still taller.
True enough, and the team that lost in four to Detroit in '09 has still been in the playoffs more recently. These two fanbases quibbling over which team reeks less is beyond stupid.

Yeah but at that point it's such a small margin and matters so little that the statement is quite meaningless. Only an extremely petty person would bother to mention it.
To a guy who is 6'0" they're both tiny and the 1" doesn't matter.
