After the PK lovefest that has occurred over the past while, particularly after the loss on saturday, I've read so many comments about how perfect PK's 2 years have been and how he has been a hockey mistake-free player. Make no mistake, PK has the talents to change a game, but what Markov showed me tonight in terms of CONTROLLING a game - PK has so much to learn. It shouldn't become a PK vs Markov comparison, but what I remember Markov being, and the reason we have all felt him to be so important to the team was on display. PK made a ton of brash mistakes that will happen and some simply careless ones as well as some real puck hogging at times. When I saw Markov dishing, shooting and making great D and neutral zone defensive plays, I just hope PK knows that he can in fact improve his game. THEN he will be worth what he thinks he is currently. Getting the attention sucked away from him has got to hurt. The more we win without him, the more the double bonus. (He'll realize he ain't 100% of the team, but an important cog AND ...we'll win.)
This forum runs on a myopic rearview mirror.
The Habs had one good game against a mediocre team and you're all popping the champagne.
We're going to win the Stanley Cup... with PK Subban at home in Toronto !!!
Love how everyone here always repeats that Subban has a lot to learn!!
Subban knows how to protect himself 1000x better than Markov.
Markov is the one who still has a lot to learn.
Subban and Gorges can teach a lot to Markov, but since he's a verteran he may not be willing to listen. Against Toronto...Markov went down after placing himself in a vulnerable position against Kadri...someone has got to tell Markov not to turn his back on any play. Matter of time before he gets injured again...unless he finally learns how to protect himself the way Subban and Gorges do.
Enough with this thread...Markov is back (feels strange to see him healthy!)...we just need Subban back now. The lockout is over yet we still have to talk about why Subban isn't signed yet...@$%^&@#$#%^&*.
Man, just don't infer the wrong thing about what I said:
I love Subban. I've been arguing for a long-term contract for him. I beleive he is arguably out 1st defensemen, and without any argument our 2nd best.
But I still think he has a lot to learn. Which means, I believe he can be even better. He hasn't reached his ceiling, far from it.
PK is on his coach right now. Markov is winning games. You do the math.
Markov has helped win one game.
You wanna "do the math" then go ahead, knowledgeable fans know where this team can go without PK Subban: 13th or 14th place in the conference as the maximum likelihood outcome, and if *everything* goes well, a ceiling that is a Cinderella run all the way to a 4 or 5 game first round playoff exit.

Just a reminder that we finished 15th last year WITH Subban in the line-up!!

I think I edited my previous post...
IMO, Subban has been our #1 dman since he joined our Habs.
And he definitely has not reached his ceiling (which would be Norris winner or top 3 candidate, imo). He's the best dman we've had since I can't remember.
Last season Subban was our MVP, imo (a season to forget...we'll just call it the GALCHENYUK season!! the season that got us a 3rd overall pick!).
Last season...Subban>Price>Gorges>Pacioretty>Cole>Pleks
Markov making his case. He's not ready to pass the torch of #1 Dman to PK just yet.
Markov usually can't pass the torch or anything else since both his hands are usually quite busy (holding crutches). The torch was automatically passed to Subban a long long time ago (been 3 years since we've seen a healthy Markov).
Everyone will despise Bergevin IF/WHEN Markov gets injured and Subban is still not signed (just a matter of time with Markov). It's frustrating...'cause Markov still has not learned how to protect himself (ex: Kadri hit last Saturday vs Leafs...Markov was so vulnerable you'd think he wanted to get injured...obviously I'm not saying he does but you know what I mean...he still turns his back to the player...fully trusting the player will not hit him from behind...****ing stupid if you ask me...dumb for such a cerebral player...Gorges and Subban should speak to Markov to let him know how to protect himself).
