actually, he's not the only one that's questioning where DB fits in the Flyers future. His cap hit is too high for what he brings in the season, which can hurt us going forward. If Briere doesn't put in a pretty good regular season showing, I'm all for trading him

I could see Phoenix taking a chance and Bringing Briere back. Sabres aren't interested.

So who is going to score for Philly besides G if we trade Danny boy?

We have a lot of players that are skilled but can't finish, and Briere is a finisher.
I personally want him on this team.

Briere is our second best forward, we can't afford to lose him until Schenn and Couturier can prove that they can take his spot, which they haven't yet. He's massively underrated on these boards just because he had one so-so season, which can be explained by many factors. Two years ago, he was very good.

That seems to be a common occurance on these boards. One bad game and the player is starting to slip. One good game and the guy is a future all star if he can maintain the pace and improve. People here have short memories. A bad season hurts his value for sure, but not by that much given his history.

I'll take "NHL 13 Trade Proposals" for $1000, Alex

That is too much for him. I suppose the poster is talking about Gormley and a first. Phoenix should pass.

Briere would be very nice to have here on the Jackets roster, but we're not about to trade any of our roster defensemen, and I worry about which prospects and how many of them would be asked for.

Plus, we'll have some folks to resign...
EDIT: on second thought, that may not be as much of a problem.
He is booed because he is a former player. I wouldn't be shocked if Goose was booed when he came back.

But if he were to put on the sweater again, he'd be welcomed back really damn quickly. Not sure what We'd have to give or where he would play with Hodgson/Ennis/Grigorenko centering the top 3 lines. (Assuming Grigs stays up, and I think he will)

Bumping this because this may be becoming a more realistic thing to happen.

Where he'd play? Ennis back on LW, Porter centering 4th and Grigs 3rd
2nd line
Ennis-Briere-Stafford
Assuming VHP stays intact that is.

Giroux
Hartnell
Simmonds
Voracek
Schenn

are all better forwards than Briere
