I think he's better than he's given credit for and had his entire team put up a bit more fight in game 7, things would look differently. The problem is, it appears as though he gave up in game 7 and his willingness to not fight for his job speaks volumes about his character. I think that's what teams are looking at.

FWIW, Thornton for Luongo would have been a great trade for both teams.

Yeah had roles been reversed he would have had a dozen poster defense team on this board about why he was so bad in Boston.

He is still an upper echelon goalie IMO, who may or may not win it all one day. For now, you have to include him in the Thornton sentence, but you never know. If he won a Cup one year, I would not be in total shock.

Really? Or is this a tongue in cheek comment?

People on this board (hf as a whole) were calling Chara a choker. If Bergeron and co. had lost in the finals, they would have been called chokers as well. Especially after the Philly debacle. And it would have been justified. That's how it works, right?

Huh? Even during the gold medal game the announcers were talking about how shaky he was.

It is still discussed today, that they won that game in spite of him.

Unless you mean I am not giving enough credit to Miller or the US or something. I didn't mean that.

Really? The Bruins? I'd be SHOCKED. He'd never survive in Boston.

Not only that but I don't think he's what we need. I'd rather get another d-man or forward.

That was my thought yes. I thought that was an absolutely huge game, being the Olympics and Canada vs. US for gold especially when you consider how strong a team the US had. I know it was absolutely huge up here, the lead up and all and with it taking place in Vancouver and all...

I actually hadn't heard that, truthfully, and thought he played very well in that game.

But even aside from that gold medal win, he also has 3 other gold medals (two from World Championships and one from World Cup) and two silvers (one from the World Championships and one from the WJC's).

Doesn't sound like a guy who caves under pressure to me? Maybe he's a guy that can't handle the far tougher NHL playoff schedule but even then the guy helped get the Canucks to game 7 of the SC finals.

You didn't hear? Rask, Krejci, Spooner, and a first for Luongo. Book it.

Meanwhile, I have some lovely beachfront property for sale.

Luongo didn't look comfortable in net all tournament. I was worried about how he was going to play in the Gold medal game.

I still think that the concerns over him being a "choker" are vastly over-stated. He's a top-flight goaltender in this league and I've seen him win playoff series via being unbeatable.

We like to make fun because of how he criticized Timmy before getting lit up himself... But Luongo is solid - just in the wrong city. I can't imagine any team who picks him will end up regretting their decision.

His comments after Game 5 were some of the biggest Loserville remarks I have ever heard.

I swear after the "Pumping his tires" comment that my first thought was, "We're going to win this thing." I mean, my Bruins-fan brain immediately yelled at me for thinking that, but it happened.

Darkhorses? Washington or San Jose.
The Lightning are poised to make a playoff run with a good goalie, so why would they want Luongo?

I think Wash is happy with Holtby.

Mike wasn't it Brodeur who was terrible in that tourney and lost his #1 spot?

Early yes, but Luongo was beyond shaky in the Gold Medal game, and if I remember wasn't exactly stellar before that.

Not sure what the Canadian broadcast looked like, but they were all over him on the American one.

no to a 3 way...

it is who I would think of a "darkhorse" team...a team that no one is talking about. I named the isles since Nino wants out

in regards to Luongo...bad contract - yes. elite goalie - YES

just some puck for thought:
This is a rhetorical question
say Rask is gone...and Whodobbin goes back to mother russia.....

what happens then?
