It doesn't look like the coaching staff wants him to go back down to Sarnia...i'd be shocked if he was sent back down.

He's not physically overmatched at this level...no reason to send him back down IMO.

That was 2 back to back game where the Panthers looked horrible. Good for our Habs to take advantage of a tired team.
I have been preaching that the defense needs balance and Gorges playing both left and right side helped big time. A silent producer. Markov is just king with his puck movement. I also liked Diaz with Markov on the PP, they complement each other well and perhaps the best someone has looked with Markov since Streit.

Hopefully Galchenyuk gets a better nickname. I prefer something like 'Yuuuks' which fans can even chant over something like Chucky.

I don't think there's a single Galchenyuk hater on this board... this bla bla bla "haters" mimic is getting out of control.

People can't have a decent debate without the word haters/fan boys thrown in... it started with the Halak/Price debate and now it's all over the place.

Stop with the school yard accusations and keep up the debate with good arguments instead.

Jeez, I wonder why I'm not debating anymore...

I still want him to gain more conifdence out there. I feel like he's afraid to make a mistake.

There've been a couple of instances where you saw some flashes of what he's able to do, but most of the time he just passes it off right away. I'd like to see him hang onto the puck a bit more.

Great game either way though. You can definitely see the talent he has.

Yeah, he's still a bit tentative out there, but it's about progress. And in two games, he progressed quite a bit. In the first period last night he was pretty timid. Then during the second period he started playing really well along the boards, and in front of the net. He got rewarded for it.

I think we'll see him become more comfortable as the next 3 games unfold.

Really hard to be assertive and build any kind of momentum when the team keeps taking penalties.

Once they start playing more 5-on-5 and he starts getting regular shifts, his play should improve in earnest

I agree. It seems like there's things that he can do which he isn't doing currently, and it seems like it's because he's being tentative still. The important thing is that he can do them, and as he becomes more comfortable, he'll start having a greater and greater impact.

Congrats to Galchy for his first goal and to Whitesnake for his analysis of galchys play at center. He definitely is a center and if he keeps progressing like this, hell be a real good player at the end of the season

Yeah I was being alittle facetious, though I still hate that nickname that people are now using. But its also in response to the TSN interview they had with Brendan Gallagher, he referred Alex as Chucky since both he and Galchenyuk had the same nickname and by dint of his older age was allowed to keep Gally and so a new nickname was made up for Galchenyuk.

He didn't really have a choice. He signed a contract here. KHL isn't going to mess around with the olympics being in Russia soon.

TSN: On bringing up 18 year old kids to play in the NHL:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=414301

"While there are some players on that list that may have had their development hampered by immediately playing in the NHL -- Josh Bailey comes to mind -- it's hard to argue that elite level players shouldn't be given the opportunity because, based on recent evidence, it doesn't appear to have significantly slowed their development..."

Great points.. The "Ruin a player if you rush him" statement is overblown.
