Gillis could be trolling Toronto and using them as leaverage.

We all know about his fights with the cbc. I think he just hates the eastern media

Maybe this year and next but in 2 years maybe 3 what happens? You could easily be stuck with a goaltender who might only be a backup at best eating up $5 million in cap space. Dont try and say that goaltenders nowadays last into their 40's the Oilers just went through 3 seasons with a former top notch goaltender who helped them to 30th place once they overpaid to get him, it's not true for all goaltenders.

I agree. I was just responding to a post citing Mark Spector's article.

I guess it all comes down to if you want to tank or not.
For me I don't get the feeling of impending doom, yet...lol. Now let me say this I don't wanna tank per say. to me tanking if losing on purpose with zero effort. I am glad that some of our young guys are finally getting to play. If with these growing pains comes losing, fine. I want a team that goes out and busts it balls every night. If this teams plays hard and makes it, great, if they play hard and we finish low, great. As long as they play hard i can accept the learning curve and seeing what we have and what we need to get. If that makes any sense?

Clearly you have very little grasp of basic law concepts it seems.

What court challenge could their possibly be to this rule? This is a collectively bargained and agreed upon thing by the owners and players, there is no recourse to be taken by anyone in any court of law.

As for players faking injury and going on LTIR? Sure, it may be possible, but I am guessing the league will want independent doctors looking into these matters as well (not sure if that is also part of the new CBA)

By the time the luongo deal is done Kesler will be back so this trade maybe doesn't include a centre after its over. Franson+winger+2nd.

Makes a tonne of sense. I totally agree. My worry is that they play hard, and the goalies lose just enough to finish 9th-10th.

Is there anyway we could all just agree that Lu is not going to TO or Edm neither team makes sense. Edm isn't going to tie up the cap money in a long contract while they will have to dish out big dollars to keep these kids as the contracts come up. TO clearly doesn't have the peices the Canucks are looking for.

I believe it'll be one of Wash, TB or Fla.

the entire point of the post is that you werent doing a tank rebuild (that's a whole other conversation given the nature of the "rebuild") and then you mentioned if it werent for all those losses you would have been a playoff team. (i guess giving credence to the "not a tank rebuild")
but you did lose all those games and have not made the playoff in close to a decade so IMO you're extrapolating in the wrong direction.

Because Nonis has shown that he cannot fill in gaps on a roster. I doubt Luongo waives for Toronto only to have a bunch of spare parts pencilled into the line-up for the duration of Nonis' tenure.

BTW the top 4 of the Nucks:

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Garrison - Edler

No way Gardiner cracks that.

No interest in Franson, we don't need a #7 defenseman

Garrison has the big shot and is good but Gardiner is the better skater and in my opinion the better of the two. To each there own.

Also agree. I would worry more about the current group's compete level, chemistry and talent than the draft position. If leafs end up with a top pick, they're more than just a 1C & 1G away from a competitive team. IMO, a tank season for the leafs means an overhaul for the team.
