Leafs need D not small speedy wingers. They already have Lupul, Kessel, Kulemin, MacArthur, JVR, Kadri, Komarov, Frattin on the wing.
This trade does nothing for the Leafs except put them short on NHL dmen.
Toronto's full of wingers. If they're going to move a puckmoving defenceman, it should be for a legitimate stay-at-home guy to get the likes of Holzer/Fraser out of the lineup and Komisarek to the bottom of it.
Hagelin has a bright future here and is a very valuable hard working player. Why are we panicking here? Yeah, I'll be the first to admit he aucked the first two games, but then again so did everyone else excluding Del Zotto, Nash, and Richards.
He hasn't even played his 3rd game of the season and we are already resorting to trying to dump a player for a #5 Dman and crap. We wouldn't even put him in a trade for Rick Nash just a mere 6 months ago....
God, HF never ceases to amaze me.
watching some ranger games last season (mostly playoffs) i liked hagelins play, so i wouldnt mind him joining the leafs for franson heading back. get rid of the rest. rynnas is our best goalie prospect and is speculated to have higher ceiling then reimer/scrivens, so id hang on to him until I know more. and leafs dont really need dmen coming back- we have 9 roster D and Reilly next season (likely)
How has Komisarek looked? Would the Leafs be willing to eat some of his salary if the Rangers took him on?
he's played 3rd pairing minutes and played well, at least during the 1st two games of the season. i think randys system is much better for him; he almost looks like an NHL defenseman now.
honestly i think komi will be on the move this season: he's definitely a leader on this leaf team, but wasnt given an A? curious anyway. rangers dont really need the leafs to eat salary, so i cant see sather going this route.
side note: last year i asked about kreiders availability and received a tongue lashing. where do fans stand this year?
As much as I want Hagelin, I don't know where he fits if we're not giving up a forward in return.
I like Franson, too.
Not a bad starting point at all though. I think the value is there from our perspective.
