Thornton impresses with his technique and patience in this win over the bigger and hard throwing Rupp

Rupp wins in the early rounds ,but Thornton takes over in the last few. It looks close to me overall ,but I'm going to give the fight to Thronton.

Thornton as usual does a good job of not getting hit square and outlasting his opponent and coming back in the second half of the fight. As a Rangers fan he reminds (fighting wise) quite a lot of Darren Langdon. Not the biggest guy but a great second half fighter.

FWIW 3 seconds after Rupp and Thornton went to the box Bickel did catch Campbell square in the face and left him a bit of a mess. Neither one of these guys is a great fighter but it is what it is. Thornton wins the first and Bickel the second.

Tactically speaking though the Thornton win did take the very short lived momentum that the Rangers had built up after the Richards goal. It would have been better for us if Rupp had taken a rain check at least until his next shift afterwards. Again things are what they are. The Bruins were the better team last night and if it weren't for Lundqvist it would have been worse.

That´s what Greg Campbell does...he breaks guys´ hands with his face. And make no mistake about it, he´ll do it to ANY of your guys, so watch it!

Thornton-Rupp was good, the Campbell one was interesting but kind of a draw.

I think Campbell has a broken nose. Win Bickel.

I'd give Thornton the edge on Rupp but apart from a quick one-two which I think bloodied Rupp's nose he did not land much. Rupp threw bigger bombs especially early on but did not land many--that was a closer fight IMO than Bickel-Campbell which wound up with Campbell only landing anything when both players were down. What is useful is some kind of standards here--judging the one fight on who wound up leaking out of his nose and who didn't (or impact of blows) and the other on points (who landed more punches--ineffective or not) and not impact of blows shows IMO a lack of consistency in judgement.

Decent fight. A little slow, but still nice and long.

Good style that Thornton didn't throw when Rupp hit the ground.

Wrong again Bickel should win this fight 9 out of 10 times and SST wins a nice tilt with the bigger Rupp and busts him a good one on the honker..
