For those who are saying...Yes to Panic...remember this:

in the lockout-shortened 1995 season, the eventual Atlantic Division champion Philadelphia Flyers started out 3-7-1. Within the same division, the playoff-bound Washington Capitals had a 2-8-2 record on Feb. 15, yet they still managed to get into the playoffs with a 22-18-8 mark. The New Jersey Devils started 3-5-2. The New York Rangers were 1-4-0 and, after a later seven-game losing streak, 13-16-3. All of these teams made the playoffs, and New Jersey won the Stanley Cup

Agreed. However, if we lose Thursday it's definitely time. 3 losses against division rivals in a shortened season is brutal.

That has been an issue for yrs. they play a full game ever now and then but for the most part this has been going on for I would say at least 3 yrs. if I remember correctly many people (fans and media) started to question Richards and his leadership for this reason.

No. We won't win the division like 95 but we can still be a 5-8 seed. I will say that Lavy needs to turn this around quick though cause there's not much time. And while he can only do so much, if this don't change he'll be blamed. Just my opinion

And hell...we did out shoot Jersey in the first 9-3 despite losing 2-0

If only somehow we could land a top winger and defenseman like we did that year.

Gilbert Dionne was a godsend

Funny thing is that LeClair was sort of a throw in....

Agree. Time to panic, no, but time to face reality. This team is on paper is the 3rd best in its division. We have glaring holes on defense and our offense is very young. Last nights line-up had:

2nd year
Coots
Schenn
Read
Wellwood

Rookie
Laughton
McGinn

Half of the offense is in the league less than 2 years. Understand Danny B is not there, but put in Rinaldo and the number goes from 6 to 5 with those 2.

We were very fortunate last year. Face it we are rebuilding, and rebuilding takes time and patience.

the way this season has gone so far

crazy, weird, wonky. half of me says with all the craziness that has happened to us, a win vs the rangers is abnormal, but this season i could see it. but the way we play against the rangers, loss after loss. maybe we are the team the rangers need to play to shake their slump.

snider is not going to accept that, he wants to win now, the way i see it is that he's going to get a new gm, trade some players to get a defensemen and a forward, sign a few fas and they are back in the playoffs. plus a new coach.

Lose 3 games... Fire Head Coach/Full on Tank/Rebuild.

Win 3 games... Start planning the Stanley Cup Parade.

The worst is that if we do not turn it around, who can we actually trade?? Usually it is the vets so:
G, Schenn, Couts, Simmonds, Hartnell, Voracek-our future top 6-nope. All young
Read-contact too good
Briere-only if he want to call the shot
Talbot-good contract if production is like last year
Laughton-nope
Rinaldo-won't get anything
Feds-ok...there is 1

L.Schenn-nope
Cobourn-no
Grossman-just signed
Kimmo-maybe...if he wants it
the rest of the D won't get anything

Bryz-well all know this answer
Leighton-see above

Unless we do ANOTHER big shake-up involving kids...not a lot to trade off. That's why we should send Laughton down. Add a player like Moore from UFA. Then if we are out of it, trade him at the deadline for a 3rd rounder

were not making any major moves with this offense. their gonna sleep in this bed for at least this season. this is a team made mostly of kids, remember. we basically rebuilt after 2010. i'm impatient too but look at the oilers. they should be lighten it up too and their not. i think we will tho. we'll have one of those floodgate games and then we'll be off and running.

It's better our youngins have a sophomore slump (if it continues) in a shortened season and with a strong draft coming up than having to endure this BS we are seeing so far for a full season.

Holmgren and us fans need to be patient (easier said than done) and just hunker down unless there is a good deal to be had but no panic moves. I would be fine with securing a lottery pick and enduring a crappy shortened lockout season.

If we have to do something to shake things up...it unfortunately would be to let go of Laviolette especially if he loses the team. A bit too early to say that but so far I have my concerns about his adaptability and his message falling on deaf ears.

that's why edmonton is bad because they are relying on young players, flyers did the same thing in 06, look what they did in the offseason after their bad season:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2..._Flyers_season,
they signed and traded for vets and got them to conference finals.

you telling me that they just sitting and waiting will make this team better with this roster?

Do young players not become vets? That's how waiting helps. You can always add vets through fa, theres no need to trade the young guys
