I have world class training and youth facility. I'm managing AC Milan. Granted, it's my first year so I need to give it some time before seeing results, however I managed West Brom for 5 years and had development problems as well. Even with Milan, I bought young players (18 to 21 years) highly suggested by 2 of my scouts with 20 PA and 20 PP each, but once they started playing for me their progress turned to red and kind of stagnated, even though I give them plenty of playing time.

I don't know if I'm following the right approach, what I usually do for coaches and training is I assign only one training for each coach, so I hire coaches with specific attributes in a way to minimize their workload and maximimze their impact on training. Most of my trainings are 4 or 4.5*.

But don't worry about me guys I'm doing well, I won Serie A and Copa Italia in my 1st season lol, but I'm just worried about a couple of young players I bought for hefty prices with 5* potential and are right now at 3.5* but their progress bar is red which means they're unlikely to hit their full potential.

It seems like most of my guys with 5* potential doesn't reach that, but end up as a 3.5* ability and 4* potential.

I'm in 2018 of my save and the role players are ridiculously hard to buy. The teams want 30M for those players, F that.

What do you guys generally do for opposition instructions pre-match?

Case by case

I usually close down the wingers, and sometimes full backs depending if they're good crossers or if they make runs.

I also always close down AMCs.

As for strikers, depending on the player I apply tight marking.

I usually let my assistant make the first instructions and then I fill where I see appropriate.

I'm managing a L2 team so my assistant manager's tactical knowledge isn't anything special . I usually show strikers onto their weaker foot and tight mark slower strikers, but I'll try closing down AMC's like you mention.

I love this game.So addicting, I haven't played any other game for about a week now.Currently in the 2016/2017 season with Bayern Munich, and I am also managing the Ivory Coast national team.I will manage them in the 2018 world cup and then resign from that job,it's more of a hassle then anything.

For my domestic team, I have won the Bundesliga 4 out of the 5 seasons I have been there for, and I also have won one Champions League,in my first year there.I have a monster transfer budget but aside from a 30 year old Messi there is no one else that would be an upgrade for most of my guys.My budget is over $180 million and don't know what to do with the money.

Hey guys I'm thinking about picking this game up. I have a train ride to work every morning, and then back home every night. Takes about an hour. Was wondering if this is a game that's okay to play while at work and on the train. I do a lot of CAD work, and in my downtime it gets very boring. So can this fill the gap, or is it a life consuming game?

You'll get fired if you install it on your work pc. You will basically mainly play football manager and a do a bit of CAD work during your downtime and I dont think your bosses will be pleased with that.

There was a book released early last fall celebrating the Championship/Football Manager series 20th anniversary, quite unsurprisingly it was titled Football Manager Stole My Life.

It truly is life consuming.

Anyone still playing this game?

I just started my 2nd save in FM13 with Man City (never managed an EPL team in any FM yet) after I got sick of my Bayern Munich save.Got sick of the Bayern save after winning the Bundesliga almost every year, not to mention most of the players being regens.

Halfway through my first year with Boreham Wood (Conference South)

I've somehow beaten League 2 and 1 sides to get into the 2nd/3rd round of the FA Cup

You guys are much braver then I am playing in the lower leagues, I'm not patient/skilled enough to even attempt to bring a team up from the lowest league to the top ones.

I should impose a limit on myself in terms of transfers, in my main save in 2019 my transfer budget was 400+ million, wasn't even challenging anymore as I could buy literally any player I wanted. With my Man City save I'm trying to make it as realistic as can be (no drastic facelifts to roster, won't try to sign 5 wonderkids every year)

Forza vrother! I'm only in 2019 but its a ton of fun restruct AC to try to lift them back up to glory. My best move was straight exchanging Pato for Bale, no cash involved. While Bale has gone on to win Player of year a few times carrying my side, unsurprisingly Pato been oft injured and seen his ratings plummet.

FM13 is on sale at Amazon right now for only $15. Thinking about picking it up since I love career mode in FIFA but reading all the stuff about zonal markings and stuff makes me think that its too complicated for me
