I agree with those who say that Kristo needs some time in the AHL. He's rather easily the second most skilled forward prospect in the organization, so I don't want to see him rushed. UND plays about half the amount games that the pros do, so I'd imagine there'd be some fatigue in there.

He's still improving his game, especially on the defensive side of things. He's actually played some PK in the games that I've watched, but he still has a long way to go.

I believe he has been playing PK for a couple years now.

I've only seen UND play about 5 times before this year, so I have no idea if has been or not. But this year I've seen almost all of their home games and I rarely remember seeing Kristo taking a regular shift on the PK. It'd be interesting to see the ice time, because I don't seem to remember him getting more than a shift or two of PK in a game unless it's a blow out.

Normally it looks like this IIRC:

Rowney-MacMillan
Pattyn-Grimaldi
Knight-Kristo

I seriosly don't get that NCAA thing this year - he is a pro caliber player playing in college. I really think he is not far from the NHL and maybe after his season is over they will let him play some games with the Habs just like Kreider last year with the Rangers.
Saw both games and Kristo was much better the 2nd night, it's too bad that ND couldn't hold on for the win as they need the points if they want a shot at first in the WCHA. Not going to get any easier next weekened with St Cloud. That goal he scored did show off his impressive hand to eye cordination.

As for not turning pro, he should be in Hamilton this year but i'm rather glad he's not since the Dogs are just terrible to watch most nights. His team has won the WCHA championship 3 times in a row, it's never been done before and this is the final year the WCHA before all the changes take place next season conference wise. He said he wanted to win a National Championship, hopefully he builds off this season for next year and hopefully the transition from college to pros goes well for him.

A year in the AHL should be very good for him to adjust to the long schedule i'd wager but if injuries hit hard enough perhaps he could see a call up. Would rather not rush him.

yes he has. He played on the PK for Team USA as well. At ND he's not always on the PK but he's a regular on it.

Kristo plays on the PK with MacMillan sometimes, other times it's Knight.

Hudon with a goal and an assist in a lopsided loss.

Thrower and Dietz with an assist each in a 4-1 win.

Wow. Thrower's a +14 and Dietz is a -20.

Some whispers about Dietz's D game to be lacking, is it true?

Still 11 goals in 45 games is pretty awesome.

Those numbers are skewed a bit because Thrower was out when they were struggling to start the year and Dietz was playing tough minutes. Surprised it's up to -20 though, I found him to be solid defensively.

Thrower is playing much easier minutes and Dietz is playing with Siemens against the top opposition. Dietz isn't the best defensively but it's not bad for a longshot D.

Actually Thrower is playing with Siemens on the top pairing and Dietz plays with with Craig on the 2nd pairing.

Gotta admit I haven't watched them in a few games. That must have changed recently though because most of the time it was the opposite.

I will always believe that Dietz is much much more reliable defensively than Thrower. Reason why +/- means so much....Didn't see Dietz in the past month though so unless his game changed, I'm sticking to my opinion.

Remember people that Saskatoon was god damn awful at the start, a start that Thrower mostly missed because of his suspension and injury. Something Dietz had to endure and where he got most of his minis including this great -6 in one game.

Dietz was -2 in September, -6 in October, -8 in November (where he had that -6 in 1 game), -5 in December and now +2 in January. He's getting there.

A -6 game will certainly skew those stats. I remember seeing a game Colaiacovo played in Kitchener a few years back where he was -6 in the first period before leaving with an injury. I can only assume it was a sprained dignity.

I'd like to call this a Colaiacovo hat trick.

Thrower and Siemens have been a pairing since Thrower returned from injury at the beginning of December (18 games ago).

Annnnndddddd as I say that, Dietz and Siemens become the top pairing for the Blades tonight

Thrower has taken shifts with both Craig and Nogier. He's picked up an assist so far on the powerplay.

Blades are down 3-1 at the end of the first.

is Collberg back in the top league in Sweden after the U20?

4-3-7 in 22 games according to hockeydb.

But I know he played on some others team in lower league... anyone know where is is currently playing?

Yes. He returned to Frolunda in the Elitserien right after the WJC.

He's scored 4 goals (3 game goal streak currently) since then, including his first ever in the SEL. Three of them have been shootout game winners and other was a penalty shot. Also added an assist in his last game.

Thrower is an awesome fighter for his size. Low center of gravity, stands his ground, shoots often as hard. It sucks he's not 6'3. I can't see how him and Dietz won't be a SOLID 3rd pairing one day.
