I'm not sure precisely how many times the Sharks have turned down offers for Clowe that are based around Raymond...

.... Why did you respond to the question "I don't see how Eller would be a better top 6 than clowe" by explaining how he'd be a great 3rd line center?

Murray for Raymond, straight up. Not willing to give up a pick for Raymond.

With the Gomez signing, it really doesn't make sense. Forcing Wingels, Gomez or Galiardi into the top-6 pretty much negates any gains from adding Eller as a 3rd line center.

We haven't had a rookie riding shotgun with the twins since Jason King

Even then, Kassian...we'd have to hold on to him, we paid our first top 10 pick since Bourdon to get him, when Hodgson was developping nicely (look at him now!).

On a side note, what about Clowe+Murray for Cleary++? Detroit fans seem to want more, or at least not surrender, size and net presence in their top six? That clears someone to be moved for a defender.

We need a good top 6 forward coming back if we trade Clowe.

That trade is awful unless the ++ is really significant. Not much interest in Cleary anyway since it doesn't fill any of the Sharks' holes.

Fair enough.

As for the Detroit one, it'd have to be a huge plus for me to send two mean SOB's to Detroit, where I'm sure they'd re-sign. Like a top forward prospect/pick.

I think a Clowe + Murray for Setoguchi +pick/prospect could make sense for both SJ and Minny. Setoguchi would be a much better fit alongside Couture and Havlat than Clowe is.

For the Sharks, sure, but Minnesota has no interest in Clowe/Murray; they would be looking for something centered around Demers/Braun.

We're interested in Myers. Doesn't mean we'll ever get him.

With the way Matt Irwin has played I'd be willing to give up Braun+ for Seto.

I doubt that Clowe would be dealt. I think they'll ride out Clowe-Couture-Havlat and just assume Couture will be the shooter while Havlat plays hybrid and Clowe is the setup man. I think adding Gomez is likely all they do unless injuries hit. There is a lot of depth potential if Sheppard pans out as well as Gomez and Handzus return to a form that is at least a respectable third line level. They have plenty of defensive depth and guys like Wingels, Desjardins, and Galiardi can all get better and spot shift in the top six if necessary or do it in short bursts.

First time poster/long time lurker so go easy please.

I remember seeing in another Clowe thread a deal with CHI built around Stalberg.

Does this sound plausible:

to CHI
- Clowe
- Galiardi

to SJ
- V. Stalberg
- Kruger
- Frolik

I think the Sens could use a guy like Murray at the dealine if they don't make another move. Deal would probably have to be prospect based if it were to make sense for the Sens.

PHI might make a deal for Clowe and Murray- maybe Simmonds? I don't really like Clowe (I think he's really, really slowed down) but PHI may view him as more of a finisher, and PHI needs D. Simmonds has skill.

I'd do something around Murray and Clowe for Simmonds. I'd rather have Simmonds next to Couture and Havlat, and at this point, I'd rather have Irwin as the 7th instead of Murray.

Clowe and Murray are exactly what the Leafs want/need.

For Clowe alone, would MacArthur and a 2nd get it done? Leafs add a B-level prospect?
