Damn, this thread was pleasant and logical.

It's pretty amazing. Is it the specific fan-bases or just the posters involved?

I suspect it's more because it doesn't involve any big name players or prospects

If The Flames are out at the deadline I would be willing to move Sarich since I think Breen is ready to take his spot next year.

I could see Sarich getting a slightly bigger return than a 2nd at the deadline. Hal Gill (and a conditional 5th) were moved at the deadline last year for a 2nd, Geoffrion and Slaney. Using that as a basis I would suggest a 2nd in 2013 and Lindberg would be a comparable return.

it's because its a proposal based in reality and involve assets that both teams are willing to give up. Most of the civilised threads on the trade board don't make it to the 2nd page as there is nothing to argue about.

Not unreasonable, but we need the 2nd cause we have no 1st 2013, and we like Lindberg, whose game has taken off well.

What about Rangers 2013 AND 2014 thirds
for
Sarich + Flames 2013 AND 2014 fourths ?

If you don't want to lose the 2013 2nd (understandable), I'd go for either the 2014 2nd or the 2013 3rd with a minor late pick upgrade (e.g. CGY's 2013 6th for NYR's 2013 5th).

So the Flames are going to move Sarich, essentially making their team worse (depending on your opinion) to move their fourth round picks for third round picks? That makes zero sense.

If you run something similar to last year, NYR's pick would be 89th while Calgary's was 105.

Calgary will probably be able to at least get a 2nd for him.

Not really interested in Sarich. Would prefer a d-man that can lead a breakout. Maybe a 3rd for Chris Butler.

Butler has higher value than Sarich, not lower.

With McDonagh, Del Zotto and Stralman, leading the breakout is not the problem.

As much as I am a fan, getting Bickl in the press box more often than not during this particular season is of the utmost importance.

Sarich would be perfect for the Rangers 3rd pairing.

Understandable but the Rangers didn't spend the last 3 years getting him ready and putting this much time into developing him to trade him for Sarich.

A 2014 2nd + mid level prospect Dman like Calle Andersson is what I would look to trade.

At this point in his career, the only thing swapping out Sarich for Bickel will accomplish is changing the name of the person people complain about as the bottom pair RHD.

Stu Bickel playing less then 10 minutes a game and seeing no PK time, who's a -1 isn't the reason the Rangers have given up 9 goals in two games. So that plus his team leading 7PIMS, means he's doing his job just fine.

4th rounder should do it for sure. Valuable asset, but a 4th rounder and a life time supply of mershed perderders should do it.

I'd like to hold onto the 2nd and I don't think Sarich holds the same value that Gill did. At the respective points in their careers, Gill is clearly a better defender.

Completely disagree. While he may not be the biggest problem, he still is a problem and can't be trusted now. What should make anyone think that if we have another triple OT game in the playoffs that he'll get more than 5 minutes of ice time for the entire game?

Sarich would be a significant upgrade over Bickel.

I would look elsewhere then to be honest, Sarich has always stepped up his game come the post season and I think he would easily garner a Gill-esque return.

Fair enough.
Since we could not agree on other player assets, I was seeing if you'd be interested in moving up on a swap of multiple picks instead of just taking only a single higher pick.

The 2nd is not unreasonably high, and depending upon need (odds are some contender will have an injury) you are likely to get it.

You can see I was motivated not to shortchange you, but come up with an alternate formula because we have no first this year, so our 2nd is at a premium.
