Is what we ought to be looking at, ordered in terms of seniority. Daley and Larsen can eat up ice time, Goligoski can as well to a lesser extent. Maybe Dillon has made some strides by next season. Maybe Oleksiak can step right in and take more responsibility than your average rookie. Anyway that's a group you can grow with. All of a sudden it doesn't look so undersized either, does it?
It absolutely doesn't look undersized, but it does look inexperienced. You can't argue with that. Something to definitely develop and grow with, but something that could use a 2-3 year temporary piece like Scuderi who could help mentor the kids with their shutdown game.

And about Goligoski- ....He'd better show some creativity with the puck on the PP and start producing. That trade is really really starting to sting with Niskanen now getting 2D minutes.

Sending him to the AHL would be cruel. He's been a warrior for us. Better to trade him to a team where he can finish his career.

If we're talking this for next year, the D corp will be greatly improved. Nemeth and Oleksiak are the top pair in Austin and it seems to be working really well so it might be a good idea to keep them together. Though, spreading out the size might be needed. Either way, next year will be much better.

Agreed.
I'm sure there are plenty of contending teams that would love to have Robi on their bottom pairing.
It would be pretty cool to see him win a cup.

Id still like to give him a chance here in a more limited role here, though, if there is room.

There's just too many questions about the things he does up with Dallas, and unfortunately I don't see a lot of those things changing. Hope I'm wrong, but if I'm not I'd like a coach like Hitch to come in.

Tortorella would be my dream candidate.
Eh.
If Gully goes, gimmie Todd McLellan.
Love the way the Sharks play hockey.

Laviolette may be on the hot-seat too.

Oleksiak can. Nemeth is set to be a #3 D.

This is the most likely scenario. Gully won't get sacked until at least the deadline, if at all this season. Like I said, I hope he fixes the issues and can stay on as coach, I really like how he thinks SOME parts of the game.

Why would they fire someone at all this year?

There won't be any firing this season, or next. Unless Nieuwendyk gets fired, which also won't be happening.

Not fond of how the Sharks have quit in the playoffs. I have no idea who I'd want but let's hope Gultuzan figures it out.

I didn't say anybody would. If it did happen though it would most likely be around that time.

I would not want to see Laviolette coach Jagr again, please no.

Laviolette started chopping Jagr's minutes at the end of the season last season and demoted him to the 3rd line. Jagr needs the minutes and the confidence that he is a leader in order for him to succeed.

Said I'd prefer Tortorella or Hitchcock.

Would just like to point out that while it's important for the Stars to get as much out of Jagr as they can this year to have team success, ultimately this is about team success and not Jagr success.

The only way Gully goes is like Lobo said, Joe gets canned. Which with the Recci hiring and rumours about Burke coming to Dallas, might have some merit to it. Either way, nothing is happening until the offseason.

Not sure what Burke rumors you're talking about, but in any case the most important thing is that Gaglardi didn't hire either Nieuwendyk or Gulutzan. I won't say that I think it's likely either guy (or both) loses his job this season but I don't think it's unreasonable either, especially depending on what coaches end up being available, etc. I really don't think Joe or Gulutzan have a loonngg time to do much of anything, not unless they show some serious strides forward.

Jagr may not even be around next year. If we were to need a new coach, it sure as hell won't be decided on by one player, especially one who's 40.

Mirtle is pretty plugged in to all things Toronto.

Either way I agree with you on everything else you said.

I don't want Burke here. I think his work is overrated. He's a good GM, but I'm not sure he's much better than GMJN.

....The hell? That would be out of left field, Burke to Dallas.

Does he have a history with Gagliardi, going back to his Canucks days maybe?

Gotta admit I'm interested by the idea. Hate to say it but GM Joe hasn't done a whole lot during his tenure with Dallas, that made me say "Outstanding work, Mr. General Manager!"

GMJN really hasn't made many bad moves outside of Neal for Goose. Coming up blank, to be honest (but not thinking very hard).

I can't see Nieuwendyk being fired, and I see Burke becoming Columbus' GM after this season is over.

Really not interested in Burke here at all. I worry that he can't adapt a philosophy to assets at his disposal and that he would come in here and want to put his fingerprints all over everything. Just too much ego for my liking.

I had to go back and look but I tend to agree. I was stoked by the Ott/Roy trade and I feel the Ribeiro/Eakin swap, not even accounting for the 2nd round pick we got, will work out pretty well for us in the long run. More good than bad but the bad is getting harder and harder to swallow.
